I'd go to Dominican Republic. You can get great deal, e.g. https://www.cheapflights.co.uk which are all inclusive for a week, that are between £400 and £500 per person. Then you don't have any extras to pay when you get there, except the sun lotion ;0) If you did choose to eat out from the hotel, most places take US dollars and the current exchange rate is great.

My father in law and fiancee just got back from there, only went a week, no jet lag. They are five hours behind so you get an extra five hours out there. 8 1/2 hour flight - pick a night one and lose less hlidaying time.

Friendly people, we went in June last year, want to go again. Been raving sooo much my sister and boyfriend are now off in February, now wish I could squeeze into a suitcase!

    Hi Sabbykins,

For £825 each (plus Glasgow supplement I'm afraid), you could have a week half-board in Mauritius! Now is that romantic or what?

I dont think you will find flights fromScotland to Hurghada only Manchester Birmingham or Gatwick.
Couldnt you extend by 1 day and stay in a nice hotel on the airport?
Another option would be Luxor and the Old Winter Palace (not new) http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/sof/resort/1661/fiche_chambre.shtml the SUP Nile View rooms have a fantastic balcony. You could take a Felucca ride and watch the sunset on your anniversary or a baloon ride over the Valley of the Kings for sunrise.
It might be worth checking Kuoin for the Oberoi but I dont think the prices will be as good as Longwoods and you would still have to go via another airport.
If you like the look of the Coral Beach get the exec wing you get alsort of extra thrown in...drinks all day from the lounge, evening cocktails, breakfast in your room at no charge, and it inculdes champers smoked salmon the works :) make sure you book HB if you do go for that one its better value to book HB here than there
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

We booked 7 nights in Dubai for our 25th wedding anniv. This was through Airline Network flying Emirates in a 4* incl breakfast 680 each travelling in March. Dubai can be as luxurious/peaceful/hectic as you want it to be and I think the shopping festival runs Jan-Feb.

A HUGE thanks to everyone who took the time to reply and give me ideas, especially those of you who actually did some research for me :)

Because of the suggestions here i have decided to go to Egypt ( thanks saveapenny & budgetflyer ;)) and i have booked 7 nights in the 5* Renaissance Golden View Beach Resort in Sharm el Sheikh for a total of: £999 HB including flights from Glasgow (which is a right pain to get flights from!) And i'm SOOOO excited :D:D The reviews for the hotel are excellent and it looks ideal for what we were after- a bit of grown up luxury without the kids, lol ;)

    Thanks again guys!!!
