Hi all,
I am having such a dilemma, my hubby and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in Feb, and we always said we'd go away somewhere really special without the kids. Well we have the babysitters sorted, and can go away for a week.
Our plans are to go away any day between 4-7th Feb, for 7 nights, and departing from Glasgow. We don't really have a budget but i guess £1500 is the absolute MOST we want to spend, but would reconsider if the place was out standing. What we want ideally is somewhere warm, not in the UK, and somewhere peaceful and beautiful with a bit of luxury.
I have been on the phone ALL day and theres SO many places to choose from, my head is done in!!!!
All ideas and/or quotes will be gratefully received!!

Edit to include what we DO and DON't want:
Ok,
We Don't really fancy the Canaries or Spain, and have been looking at nice 5* hotels in Egypt and Dubai. We would also consider Cyprus for the warm weather.
We want somewhere with a bit of grown up luxury about it really.
Another thing we are steering clear of is long haul as its too far to go for just a week, the jet lag would just be kicking in and we'd be on our way home again.
I hope thats a bit clearer,. Thanks

If you would consider Cyprus, have a few night theres, and then cruise over to Egypt (sooooooooo many companies do it) and have a few nights in Egypt.
I have not been to Dubai, so cannot comment on there, but Cyprus would be warm, and you would get it for the price you want.****************************0 -
What about Morocco? I can't give any personal recommendations, because it's still on my list, but there appear to be some fabulous luxury hotels (traditional, rather than euro/american chains) in places like Marrakech.0

If you were prepared to spend some more ££££, I would suggest Africa and a luxury lodge with safari.
There's no jet lag as there's only 1 hour difference and you tend to fly overnight, so would only be tired.
I am bias towards Africa thought as I lived there, but it really is a beautiful country.
As someone else mentioned, Morrocco would be nice aswell.****************************0 -
The Sofitel in Agadir often comes up on special with eclipse.
Also I can highly recommend the Coral Beach hotel http://secure.leptoscalypso.com/coralbeach/ in Cyprus but unsure just how warm it will be in Feb?
Another place and its pure Luxury are http://www.oberoihotels.com/hotelandresorts/index.asp?headinfo=hotels_resorts
this one is wonderful The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh http://www.oberoisahlhasheesh.com/index.asp?leftinfo=1&leftitem=1 and Longwood can do it for around 550 - 600 for a weekIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
I was very fortunate to go to Cape Town for work last year - although it's a longhaul flight there is only a one hour time difference, so no jetlag.
It was amazing, and although the flights are expensive, when you're there it's really cheap - and so lovely. If you want to know more I'd happily give you much more info.
I'll just add that I'd never wanted to go to SA before - but I will definately go back - and pay myself - also I used to research guide books, so I've travelled a fair amount.0 -
I can recommend the Coral Beach Hotel in Cyprus.
We stayed in a hotel just round the corner and popped in there for a drink and we would have preferred to stay there ourselves.
It is tucked away, just about 15 mins bus ride out of Paphos and the bus route runs from not too far outside of the hotel.
It is very easy to drive in Cyprus, I would recommend a 4x4 and travel to Lara Beach and do a general drive around there, perhaps even drive into Paphos and do your sightseeing there. Some lovely ruins and mosaics.
In general though I would say the hotel is so lovely you could just stay in there and enjoy the luxury.
I highly recommend it from what we saw and the website link the previous poster has given.
Have fun!0 -
I forgot to say we stayed in a hotel just round the corner to the one I have recommended and it was called something like Coral Bay Hotel don't get the two confused, make sure it is the one in the link given by the person above if you choose to book it. Even people on tripadvisor have got the two confused!0

Wow! Thanks for all the fantastic replies!!
Saveapenny, i absolutely LOVE the hotel links you gave me and i've been busy trying to find flights from Glasgow to Hurghada with no luck
All the packages to that hotel only seem to fly from Gatwick
Any tips on getting flights from Glasgow?
