Options
hi all
im getting quite anxious.
i placed an order for fruit trees and a few other bits. mainly as xmas presents at the beginning of oct. when i asked them how long delivery would be they told me 28 days
anyway ive since asked if my order is on its way and they told me "this month"
has any1 ordered from them? im just worried as my sister ordered lots of plug plants from the web(not parkers) last year. her money went and she never got the goods.
i no its not the end of the month yet but im still worried.
also if any1 has ordered from van mer something or other i would appreciate feedback as ive ordered from them also
many thanks for reading this and for the replys in advance

I had a lot of trouble with j parkers, but it was mostly the carriers they used. We lived a long way from anywhere so were always the last on the route and (as one of the carriers told me) they sometimes couldn't be bothered to come all the way out there so they would park in a layby for a nice long rest and then say they had been and no-one was in.

The trouble was j parkers would never believe me and by the time they admitted the plants weren't coming it would be too late to re-order.
Also, because the plants were sometimes with the carriers for a week or more they would often arrive covered in mould and with long white shoots growing from the buds, and j parkers wouldn't send out replacements until the originals arrived back at their office (and you can imagine how long that took!)

I don't know whether they are any better if you live any closer to civilisation, or in other parts of the country, but if I were you I'd keep nagging them for a definite date of dispatch.

  • I have two orders with J Parkers and I have not received anything yet. I've sent them an email as they said the plants will arrive in Nov, but they have replied and said they will be deliver in early Dec. I will send them another email to chase again to see what is happening again.

J Parkers send their fruit trees out when they are dormant.

Last year because the weather was warm the trees where not sent out until the beginning of December. (I ordered mine in October and expected to receive them in November but got them in the first week of December.)

This year until this past week the weather has been quite warm so expect to receive your trees soon.

Oh another thing about J Parkers if you send them an email enquiry they reply to you by letter. The reply can take a week to get to you.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • I received my soft fruit - currants, gooseberries, loganberries, raspberries -, bulbs, fig and nut trees this week. I had rung them in October to check delivery dates and was told late November. Good as their word. The plants were in excellent condition. Despatched on 20th November and arrived 25th. All now in the ground.

i ordered from jparkers two years running - there weren't problems with the delivery or payment but on first order - they had sent some wrong items and most of the plants were in very poor condition and i had to return - they did refund. second year - delivery and payment fine - but again it was really hit and miss with the quality - some plants absolutely fine / others rotted. i only use them now for the bargain items.

I've ordered some soft fruit and flowers...and still havnet received anything yet....
  • I've always been disappointed with mail order plants, always smaller than you hope for!
I'm surprised T&M still deliver to me as I always complain - they always replace to be fair.
They were most upset when I sent photos of plants to Gardeners World.
  • Just an update.
Iemailed on 1/12 and they said they had sent out 2/12 so should be here very soon. Fingers crossed the snow stops so i can plant out and that the quaility is good.
Will update on quality when they arrive.

I've used J Parkers for years, they are ok, sometimes they have sent stuff that is disappointing but they always sorted out complaints. I've used far worse!
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
