Citylink (& Amazon)

Just took delivery of a tv stand. Huge thing, weighs a ton. The Citylink delivery guy leant it against my wall & handed me a clipboard to sign, which I do.

I then turned around & see that the packaging is completly torn open & smashed & the inner polstyrene is also smashed with the actual bare goods sticking through.

I call him back from the foot of my drive & show him & he says "too late, you signed for it now" & walks off.

You live & learn. Never again do I sign for anything without checking it meticulously. I'm sure every courier bar none will be p*ssed off at having to wait around whilst I do so but now I know their attitude I couldn't give a t*ss.

Something I tend to do is, when I sign for something, write 'not inspected' next to my signature. I do this in the possibly fallacious belief that it protects me in the case of the item being damaged. Is this true?

Send an email or fax (i.e. time stamped) to them now saying that the item is damaged.

Oh, and I'd be tempted to take a fair few digi photos before it is unwrapped.

agreed. this is ballcocks. you will be able to either claim against them or from the supplier of the item (or will look to claim from citilink), or even the card you paid on.

    amazing.

why not start signing delivery receipts incorrectly.

then claim non delivery. it's just not cricket I'm afraid.

don't let them get away with it.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

I used to be a 'Citylink' Driver, I'm surprised at this incident.

Citylink managers are very strict with their drivers, their deliveries, Routes, And any damages encountered.

Every Driver is 'De briefed' after each day by the transport office.

The driver should have 'Replied' a bit more 'Professionally' than what they said.

Even thou you signed for the delivery, The Courier is still liable for any damage in transit.

Go down in 'Person' and speak to the transport office.

(The Driver sounds like a novice at Citylink?)

A shame because, Many moons ago - We used to have about 130 drops, That would be all done by 1 pm (safely).

Not many drivers can even do 80 drops thesedays!!

    You can't buy experience.

    Best Of Luck.

I've not had an issue with Citylink personally but from time to time, you're unlucky enough to run into a numpty who can't do his job. Regardless of company, that's not an acceptable way to treat a customer so I'd be on the phone to citylink to let them know a moron has managed to get through their [STRIKE]strict[/STRIKE] vetting procedure.

Even if the product is undamaged, I would also contact the retailer to let them know what happened because their customer experience is directly linked to the couriers they use.
After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.

Surprised at the comment ?? I am surprised that you are surprised !!

And the only manager who gives a toss must have been yours !!

Sorry for the harsh comments but I also am an ex citylink employee and I know how the managers work the system to make the figures look good. Carding timed deliveries so they are not shown as failed, leaving goods safe or with neighbour when there are no instructions to do so etc etc .

So no matter what the drivers say then honestly I am not the least bit surprised ... and thats not just 'novice' drivers ! Debriefing ? You have got to be joking ?? lol
