3G signal problems - so i phone THREE Customer Services

Basically my problem is that when im in my home and around my area, i have very bad 3G signal.
But in 2.5G mode my phone has excellent signal.

The phone switches from 3G mode to 2.5G mode all day long when im in my home.

This means that 50% of the time when someone tries to phone me, and i have no 3G signal people cant get in touch with me.

I also try to call someone and the phone hangs up once, twice, maybe three times before it actually starts ringing. Takes 30-60secs to call someone!!!

And then if i am lucky enough to speak to someone in 3G mode all of a sudden after a minute or 2 the call gets cut off, cause the phone switches to 2.5G mode.

ITS JUST SO FUSTRATING and doesnt help that three's customer service are actually useless telling me to make sure i have Three UK selected in connections options.

I was having an argument with her saying you are not providing me the service im paying for bla bla bla

Her answer was well ive had a look on the map and the 3G signal in your area is not the best - WELL WHEN I SIGNED UP FOR THE CONTRACT THERE WAS NO MENTION THAT IT WAS BAD - WHEN I SIGNED UP ONLINE IT SAID IT WAS GOOD AND 100% 3G ENABLED AREA!

I ask her then if i forcing my phone to stay in 2.5G mode using 3rd party software will it breach any of three's terms and conditions?

She said yes because its not approved 3 software.

Basically i was going around in circles with her and she said that my area will be upgraded in June 2006 ! YES 6 MORE MONTHS! IVE HAD 6 MONTHS OF HELL AND I GOT ANOTHER 6 TO GO.

I know its a cheap service for what im getting but i still expect a reasonably good service, not alot of !!!! what im getting at the moment.

Anyone i can contact at three that speaks english and can help me? not some indian girl who keeps repeating herself from a book.

Where do i stand because this is making me bald lol

Cheers

  • India CS is frusting.

If you want to speak to an UK person you need to go to a 3 shop or 3 point in superdrug. They have a dealer number that calls Glasgow.

You can speak to Liverpool CS if you go through the options for leaving 3.

Dial 333, I think it is option 1 then 3 then 5. They might understand and put you through to Glasgow.

An other option is write to the Executive Office, you can get the contact details from the Otelo website.

3 are a relatively new network, as you know. Their infrastructure is not as full as the other networks and therefore the types of problems you describe are inherent. They will not tell you these things when you sign up because they are in a catch 22 situation whereby they need revenue streams in order to develop their networks. No network guarantees full coverage in all areas, and at all times, and all of the networks exaggerate their coverage to some degree, in my experience.

It's not that long ago when that I remember people cursing Orange for being a totally duff network. However, when questioned further, these people were referring to their experience with Orange in Oranges' early days. Mud tends to stick.

I understand your frustration with 3. I used 3 and had similar problems. I would advise that when you are at home and you want to make a call that you try and keep still, with the back of the phone being as close to a window as is reasonably possible. That way you may find that calls are not dropped as frequently. That's how I managed with it!
