i am intending to buy this phone for my son for crimbo, its on 3 does it have to be on that network or can it be unlocked?

AFAIK it can now be unlocked, to use any 2G sim (e.g. O2, Orange etc.)

However the equipment is quite specialised, so you are unlikely to find a market stall trader who can do it, and places are likely to charge £20+ for an unlock.

i think the new ones have been altered so they wont unlock now (at the moment )
