I see. My apologies - it's just my suspicious nature that attaches the label 'fake' to anything coming off a market stall or being sold by those high pressure guys. I am a naturally suspicious person, which probably means I'm missing out on quite a lot of things good as well as bad.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

Hi, I was at the Bath and West show on Friday and have bought a bag of perfumes for £20. You get the Boudoir Secrets for £20 and five others free. I liked Devil Wears Perfume and have opened and tried them all (even the men's ones) as I've giving the ones I don't like as presents, my friends won't notice there's no cellophane!
I got.....
Boudoir secrets (too floral for me - smells a bit like EA "Sunflowers")
Devil wears perfume (smells like weedkiller at first but warms to a surprisingly good fragrance - almost smells like cherries)
Red Hot Man (smells gorgeous but bottle is pretty cheap looking)
Lovely (VERY cheap looking bottle but nice fragrance)
Glitz, glam and pink (VERY nice fragrance!)
Infinity for men (Very cheap looking, like loo cleaner! but smells like the green radox so I've kept it for a room spritz as I love the smell)
Overall, comes out at just over £3 a bottle so you can't really create a fuss over it, none of them are offensive and would make nice stocking fillers or trinket gifts. I'd never heard of any of them before except the devil one so I really wasn't under any illusions that I was buying the "real thing", the woman on the stand was just basically selling perfume at a good price, no celebrity rubbish or hard sell, so I don't feel I was duped in the slightest. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

The issue we have with these scammers is that they do wrong advertising. They refer to brands such as Lacoste, Prada, Beckham and hint that the ones they are selling are of these barnds. They claim that the price is 60 quid, whereas, they cost, as you say - 3 quid. I don't know how are they not scared to do so. Instead, they could have simply opened a shop and priced everything at 3 and people would gladly come and buy without any hard feelings.0 -
.....And i'm a little concerned what goes in these bottles0

I was walking past this shop on oxford street today and saw the same man with the microphone on.. big crowd of people all waving £20 cash at him; big bright lights - who wouldn't stop to have a look.
The man was claiming that due to the launch of the new perfume "carrie" they were doing a special promotion - giving away £195 worth of branded perfume away for £20! AND they only had 27 bags left - once they were gone, that was it. I ran over the road to get some cash out, came back to find there were still only 27 left (even though they'd sold another 2 while I was stood there... I should've known better eh!)
The man was throwing phrases such as "sex and the city, sarah jessica parker, beyonce, lewis hamilton, addict, real thing, branded, special promotion to advertise the store" etc etc. The posters had what looked like the sex and the city branding of pink on black in the same font and a picture of NYC - as on all the SATC branding.
I had a quick sniff of the display perfumes, they didn't smell that great but hey, I was gonna give them away as pressies - and I'm not one to turn down a bargain! Also, there was quite some excitment around and urgency created by the man on the mic so I made my purchase.
Crossed the road and as I was congratulating myself on my superb purchase, I thought, hey, isn't SJP's perfume called "lovely"??? On closer inspection, I realised that all of these were FAKES FAKES FAKES. Talk about ripping off and taking advantage of the power of association! Illegal much. I do believe there is an Intellectual Property infringement here somewhere....
I walked straight back and asked for my money back. The man on the mic said "eric, can you please deal with this lady here... everyone, this lady here's over spent, she needs her fare home.." (a likely story eh?).
The manager (I assume) took me right to the back of the shop and asked me why I'd bought it in the first place and I said that it was falsely advertised - his response was "so you bought it because it was false advertising?" (smirk on his face) me: no, that's why i brought it back. He walked to a back room, to fish out a rather dodgy £20 note... don't think it was unfair of me to hold it to the lightHe then offered to give it to me in ones.. I didn't say no.
I looked around the shop to find that ALL the merchandise was fake. rip offs of popular brand names.
In the local market, yes. On the street corner on a table, yes. But you just don't expect it in a prime property location such as Oxford Street!
So watch out!
i was at the lincolnshire show today and the man was there! with his mic saying 4 branded perfumes for £20 and i thought greatt, wow, this sounds really good, so silly me bought the devil wears perfume, bling, kate moss and daniel banks. the kate moss honestly looks and smells like the real thing, but i have not seen the other perfumes before so i thought i would check up on it and i cant believe all the things i have read about this man!!
its been a big helpp!0 -
I have just returned from Tenerife (today) & this scam is still being tried on the Sunday market in Los Christianos. Yesterday I was offered The Devil Wears perfume & a Devil Wears Prada t-shirt in a Devil Wears Prada carrier bag + one by Jennifer Lopez (her name was nowhere on the box) & one other "famous" brand. I could also have a choice of a watch or two men's "well-known" aftershaves, which I'd never heard of. I'm glad I didn't like the smell of the perfume & ended up not buying any. What a lucky escape !0

These guys were at the air tattoo in fairford a couple of weeks back, glad I didnt buy any but there were big crowds around them.
The devil wears perfume was their new (cough cough) fragrance but the guy was also name dropping - peter andres new fragrance, sarah jessica parkers fragrance.
The most annoying thing was the tag lines he was using over and over again - 'youll like what we do and the way we do it'.0 -
i to was at the sunderland air show and brought a bag they all smelt ok.
i brought them for x mas as they are good presents. dont see what your problem is. seems like you've got to much time on your hands. worrying what other poeple are doing get a life.
The problem is, do you actually know what is in these bottles? Do you know where they have been produced. Also another worrying fact about these bottles is that the expiry date is 5 years. So explain why any other legal cosmetics it is 36 months. I to have been scammed by this bloke at the tall ships races on saturday. The bottles he had spraying were infact legal and were the real thing. We checked this before we bought them. On the train home we were looking at them. Low and Behold, they were all fake. More to the point, there were 3 of us that got this 'bargin of the century' so in total it took us 10.5 hours of work to pay for them. The !!!!!!! who sold us the fake stuff worked just 10.5 seconds. Hartlepool have been notified and are surveying is stand. They have also informed customs and they will be investigating.
SO WATCH YOUR BACK MR SCAMMER!!!!! WE ARE ON TO YOU NOW.
like hell is the 'dreams' perfume i was sold one of beyonces. Im sure the picture of beyonce holding the perfume was also fake aka PHOTOSHOPPED!!0 -
