    Sadly it seems texters pay through the nose for keeping in touch via sms. I travel alot though am not in 1 country long enough to use a local sim. My phone bills are huge from only texting!

    It's about time texts were made cheaper not just calls with add ons!

    otherwise i think o2 have a systme whereby it takes 4 out of your inclusive bundle.

    Always worth checking if there are roaming bundles for SMS. i know Orange have them + other networks prob do aswell.

    There are some mobile Java programs which send an equivalent via the phone's data connection, costing from about a penny each, plus around half a penny to your network for the data.

    There is an article and discussion thread, which you could find by doing a search for a couple of the brand names: fishtext, smsbug, mobisms and vyke.
