I sent a letter (via Royal Mail) to Father Christmas in November 2003 and also in September 2004 and have never received a reply0

I ordered a free letter from Goodheart Gifts. You can print your own letter, so you are guaranteed to get it before Christmas. Just do a search for "Goodheart Gifts" in Google. There is a big link on the home page.
Hope this helps.0 -
i took 40 kids to the post box to deliver their letters to Santa using the royal mail address and they sent us 40 letters back we didnt put a stamp on as you can imagine would have cost a fortune so when i do it again this year do i need a stamp on each letter?0

Forget that.
If you (or maybe your child(ren)) send a letter with a first or second class stamp on it to
Santa
Reindeerland
SAN TA1
as long as it is received before December the 13th and includes a reply address. !Then Santa will write back, with the kind aid of the Royal Mail !;)
I ho-ho-hope you save some money

Updated Note
A few more facts from the discussion below.
1. The website www. Northpole. com is Father Christmas's e-mail address apparently, and if children write there, he is now web enabled. !It seems Mrs. Christmas personally installed good ADSL up there. !(thanks to Nololly for this suggestion).
2. Even if the address to Santa isn't correct, you should usually get a reply, however the above address is the one Royal Mail say Santa prefers.
3. 2005 Christmas Note: Last year (when i first wrote this post) a few people who sent letters near the 16th didn't get replies. While the Post Office says it will reply, the early you send the better

Found this site you can choose colour of letter compose it then download it free of charge, then I made up a envelope from Santa and posted it myself:

hope this helps out this year. Michael0 -
we have not yet had our reply letters from Santa (although we did last year).
got fed up of waiting so went on www.portablenorthpole.com and did them a (free) video from Santa instead. it's much better than the letter anyway (which last year was just a standard response). Santa talks direct to your child, calling them by name and talking baout how old they are, what events they've had this year etc. my two were enthralled, and you can watch it over and over.0 -
get a free letter template from santa for your little ones, theres a choice of 5 different letters, then 5 different designs, you just fill in the details you want on the letter, preview, and if your happy print and if not design another, you can print direct or get it emailed to you and its free
