Getting Oh So Fed up with it all :(

  • :( Oh heck, I fell off the wagon today. I had to get 3 pin numbers for 3 credit cards to bail me out so that I can pay my bills for December. I ended up taking one of those cards and as well as paying my bills using it, I spent £120 on new trainers, a fleece and a sports bag for the gym. I was really fed up and could probabaly have got them cheaper elsewhere, my trainers were knackered and I was completely fed up.

Now I'm about,er, £900 down taking into account the money I've had to pilfer to pay my mortgage and credit card debts.

That puts me back staying at my dads another 2 weeks in the future. Argh I'm 31, instead of being married in big house with kids, I'm not even living in my owned flat and in debt and staying with my dad! Not in a good mental place at the mo. (that's my hang-ups in a nutshell!)

Anyway, hope you are feeling better, hope you don't mind me having a whinge. :o
  • PinkTwirl,

Don't be too hard on yourself. We all fall off the wagon every now and again. If you feel that bad you could always search for the stuff online and if you get it cheaper buy online and then return the other ones. That might help the guilt.

I am really going to have to rein myself in over Xmas and that will be very hard. I am going home to Ireland and then staying in a hotel over the New Year so I will have to watch the cash. I haven't saved the money for the hotel either  I am just paying the minimum amount on debt and hoping that I will have enough to tide me over
    Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
    DFD:Nov 22/June 22
    Mortgage: €199,712
    MFD: March 2042/July 2034
  • Hi,

Thanks. I'l get back on the wagon, I think it's just the situation that is getting to me, plus the worry of maybe not having a job in six months (which is ridiculous because I will find something else but I worry like mad and make a big song and dance about things and then none of them ever come to fruition).

Where are you going in Ireland? One night in a hotel, if you book it now you might get it cheaper. I know how much of a rip-off they can be at this time of year.

Hope you have a nice xmas - next year will hopefully be more financially fluid. :o

I got disheartened a few weeks ago about my hair as my grey was coming through and the hairdressers usually costs me about £50.00. My mother in law suggested that if I bought a colour from Boots, she would do it for me. I bought a garnier nutrisse (sp?) from Boots for a fiver and she put it all on for me - it looks absolutely great - saved myself £45.00!!! :j

    Hi Skysky

This is a great idea. My DD buys colours when they are 241 and 'treats' me by colouring mine for me when she does hers, for nothing!

It can really get you down when pennypinching seems to last forever - that's why I love MSE - I know I'm not alone. :lovethoug

MrsPitcher2b - try not to let it get you down.

Like yourself, I don't have huge debts, but have been trying to get rid of them for nearly four years now, with the same again ahead of me unless I sort it out now! I haven't had a night out where I didn't worry about cash, full new outfit, or even a full price CD/DVD for three years now :D

It's perfectly natural to wallow and feel sorry for yourself, but just try and think how good it's going to be once you fix it :) At a cruel, basic level, it's a waste of time and you need to snap out of it (I count myself in this bracket, I'm not being a troll!) Instead of spending half an hour or so feeling sorry for ourselves we can be productive:

    Check the bank balance/s
    Do some daily clicks/free scratchcards
    Complete a survey
Write up some descriptions for eBay in a word document (then you can post them as a batch later).
Do the housework - beat the carpets, or destroy some spiders webs!

Or if it works better for you, watch some silly TV (I know half an hour of Eastenders will have me appreciating my life more!)

Sorry to be preachy, but we all need a pinch from time to time!

*Edit: Now that I think about it, people don't beat carpets any more, do they?
  • Hi Pink Twirl

I was just reading your bit again about being out of work for 6mths - no joke, eh? My DH was made redundant and it all gets too much at times. I keep myself busy at work and meet with others there, which helps take my mind off it - things can seem so much worse if you have time to brood. Have you thought of some voluntary work in the meantime - charity shops are always crying out for help, and you get first pick of the bargains!

    Keep your chin up,

    Chris ;)
  • Hi,

Sorry to hear that things are difficult for you at the moment. :grouphug:

I'm working at the moment, but because it's not a permanent contract I'm a bit worried.
