Empire stores codes?

I have a question - if you input one of these codes - is the discount supposed to show up on your cart at the end before you click place order?

The discount should show up before you confirm order. I've found sometimes I'll put a discount code in and it'll show up as a 'buy now pay later' code so I just go back and try another one.

I ordered something but did not get a Customer Reference Number, and I tried registering a new account on the site but I have not received any emails to confirm?!

I have used PL0004 (£10 off -MIN spend £20) & PS0081 (£5 off-no minimum spend). Both works fine to buy little treats for the upcoming baby!

I used the codes above but the one order was unsuitable and the other item boxer shorts shrunk in the wash before being worn so they can have them back as well.

Have tried above codes all of which wont work for me! Am an existing customer of empire so maybe thats why?
they gave me some alternatives to use if these are any good to anyone.
