    Buy a sharper knife.

There we are, npsmama, maybe you could use some of Mr Brooker's razor-sharp wit to slice through the chicken? It's a good job he wasn't around at the end of the 19th century or we'd never have heard of Wilde or Shaw...

Your local environmental health or trading standards?
  • There is the offence in the Food Safety Act of selling food "not of the nature, substance or qualit demanded". The problem is though that this is for criminal proceedings and does not allow you to rescind the contract just because an offence has been committed.

Yo could argue under s. 14 of Sale of Gods Act, but you may be in for a fight. It may certainly be worth asking for recompense.

In future I would avoid ordering meat, especially chicken, online. There have been several cases involving the illegal sale of meat. I will spare the details as they are not pleasant.

    Just a few questions:
Where did the meat come from?
What are the markings on the packaging sent?

There should be a square or circular shape containing:

Two letters (in CAPS) - this is the country.
A four digit number underneath (identifies who packaged or prepared the meat)
And underneath the number the letters "EEC"

Is this how far capitalism has gone? Can even the Gods be bought and sold on the open market? No wonder things are collapsing around our ears!!

I certainly agree with this. I wouldn't buy anything perishable online, not just because it might be illegal or tainted but simply because it could deteriorate in transit if there were any delays.
  • Oops! My bad! I did of course mean sale of goods act

I think you are a fool for ordering chickem or meat for that fact off of the internet. There are some things that you order over the internet, household goods, clothes electronics but meat is not one of them. I want to see the food I am paying for and that includes online supermarket deliveries.

    More fool you

    I agree.

But I still think it's rude and unnecessary to call fellow MSE members 'fools'. It's not even as if you're the first to have pointed out the reasons not to order meat online. I already have and so has baddiebasher, just a bit more politely.
  • Regarding oredering meat on line, obviously none of the previous posters have purchased any meat from Donald Russell, this has to be the BEST meat available anywhere in this country!!!.

Perhaps I'll try that one day when I've secured a second mortgage. It does look succulent!
