giving up isn't as hard as it seems. The nicotine craving goes after 24 hours it's just the fact that you think you want a cig that people seem to stumble on.
When you get the craving just tell yourself you don't want one at all and keep thinking it till the craving goes away.

scheming gypsy, i have discovered that things to fiddle / play wiht are the way forward for convinsing yourself that you dont want one........ there was much laughter when evrybody found out i had got a mechano set for xmas ..but it works.

Day 3 - so far so good. Saved £15.00. I've smoked for over 40 years. Tried quitting more times thsan I've had hot dinners. Longest was when I was pregnant with No. 1 child (37 years ago!). Now I'm an oldie with grandchildren and have to set a good example. Also, spending over a fiver a day from my meagre pension on this habit. Need loads of support, but advise you all to try Boots own Nicotine gum. It's about £3 cheaper than Nicorette and, if you buy now you get heavily discounted prices on subsequent purchases of the gum, patches etc. until April. This makes the whole journey a lot cheaper (even for roll your own people). Set yourselves a goal to spend the £££'s on. Good luck all of us. We are doing it! P.S. Never done this before, so hope this contribution works OK.
