Good luck to you all and especially thanks for the tip about the nasal spray. I'm thinking of stopping, but that ain't the same thing as doing it - is it !!
For anyone reading this - most gps will prescribe NRT and most practices have a stop smoking nurse for advice and support.0 -
Whilst in Boots today I noticed they were doing Nicorette patches on some kind of deal, I think it may have been buy one pack get one half price... Might be worth a look!!!
I gave up 6 months ago, would not change it for anything...!! :j0 -
Just don't try and replace smoking with eating - its fatal - you end up fat and miserable and that is a great excuse to start smoking again!! Then you are fat, miserable and a smoker! There is no substitute for nicotine. FACT! Good luck and never stop trying.
It is like being an alcoholic, just a different drug. I truly believe nicotine is an insideously evil substance, doing its deadly work, day by day, but fooling you into thinking it is a "friend" and "helps you cope" or "relax", all the while instilling such fear in you that if you stop you will "fall apart" or "crack up". Sorry if that sounds dramatic, but it has been my hardest battle of my life to get free of nicotine! Incidentally I gave up drinking because of smoking and have never gone back to it - but had some slip ups with the old Nico!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Boots do their own brand of patches called Nicassist or something and I got them because they are cheaper than Nicorette but I thought they were dreadful - they aren't sticky enough and fall off very easily.0

Hows it going fellow quitters ? I have just started my second day - my other half had a sneaky one last night - not me though I just watched him out the garden puffing away whilst I stood there with a pickled gerkin munching away on that ! Told him he is not a failure and he has done well too last all day without one (honestly anyone would think I was a long term quitter not a one dayer but support is what it's all about)
I am still feeling tight chested and really really craving one but gonna hang in there
still haven't managed to get my jar of marmite but did have half a jar of pickled beetroot last night - still better than chocolate or Belguim Buns !
Saw the patches in superdrugs yesterday they are buy one get the other half price so work out around 24 quid so so far Tesco is still winning with 2 x boxes for 20 quid
Good luck to you all today -x-0 -
I am still doing brilliantly
not had a single cigarette and it is now the 4th January and I am a non-smoker
I have to admit to the fact that I still think of ciggies almost every ten minutes and I want one, but I don't, if you understand the feeling. I am so proud of myself, as i truly think I have done it this time. All I have to do is ensure that I never have 'just one' as I know it would lead to more. I am looking forward to the day when I awake to the world and I don't think about cigarettes anymore. I was fed up last night. Couldn't settle to anything. Tried watching telly, tried browsing the web, I was up and down all over the place. My body and mind is missing doing that 'something' that I would do whatever I was doing. But I went to bed having NOT had a cigarette and the 4th January has arrived and I am still smoke free. I am going out later today to buy myself a treat as I think 'treats' help with motivation to stay stopped.

It's now 2 years and 1 day since I quit. At times I could still murder a cigarette but it does get easier. And I have been healthier and wealthier since quitting. Good luck to all that are trying - you can only do your best.0

Hi
I got my patches and gum from the Doctors and just paid the £6.20 for the perscription. The Nurse would give me two weeks at a time so much cheaper than anywhere else.
I quit in May last year then found out I was pregnant so I have had more of a reason not to start again, but not very money saving as babies are expensive!!
Good luck to all of you - you can do it its easy (that is what I had to tell myself!)0 -

Yes, but that's a good thing isn't it. It will stop you smoking and make your life a success. All achievements make us the people we are and I for one wouldn't have got what I have today if not for my competitive streak. All winners are competitive. Losers aren't. Remember that~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0
