I'm on day 3 but smoked very little so not finding it too difficult at the mo, my trouble will be when I have a glass of wine!!! - PM me if you like :)

P.M -You need to click on the user name of the person you want to pm and you will see the option there.Good luck with the not smoking.I smoked my last one yesterday morning.Had a crap nights sleep though but don't feel too bad today.Take it one day at a time. The physical urge only lasts a couple of minutes so just try to keep busy.We CAN do it!!!Good luck.Have you given up before?I gave up for about 7 months before but then started again for no particular reason.I just felt like I was missing out on something.Stupid I know.
  • I also had a bad nights kip but put that down to the Sunday(Monday if it's been a bank holiday) syndrome - was wide awake still at 2 and my alarm went off at 5 - groan - this is norm for me though every weekend I can never sleep on a Sunday night - have tried getting up early but makes no difference -
Yes I gave up smoking for 8 months but had a craving for belguim buns and ended up looking like one - anyway was going on holiday and thought cannot go on like this and still craved a ciggy so started again - what a fool - have tried again since then but only lasted a month - got to do it now just got to - getting too old for this and been smoking for 26 years - cannot breath properly and my legs are always aching so better do it now - gawd I'm well going on aren't I ..... sorry
Are you doing cold turkey ? I am on the patches and thought I had a good bargain there at Tesco - my sister who is also giving up had paid full price but will be stocking up for future weeks from Tesco - tried the gum (which I think is alos on special offer) but that is the pits ! - not sure why but at the moment I am craving marmite !! ha ha better than belguim buns though
    ;)

Try the Nicorette Nasal Spray, it takes some getting used to, but it works! As a previoud heavy smoker of 20 years (started very young) I thought I would never be able to give up. I tried patches, gum, the lot, nothing worked. Then I tried the Nasal Spray. The reason it works and is recommended for very addicted smokers is that it delivers the SAME amount of nicotine as a cigarette. Patches, gum etc. deliver only a small amount of nicotine to help with withdrawal symptoms. The nasal spray replaces the nicotine you would get from a cigarette. I am now cigarette free and using the nasal spray. Its expensive (£19.98 for a 10 ml bottle) but it works. If it can stop me smoking, it will work for you. It takes some getting used to, is unpleasant at first, you are squirting nicotine up your nose, but you adapt and you are having a 'smoke' without all the dangerous tars, poisons that are in cigarettes etc. You gradually use less and less of the spray and thus become a non-smoker.

    Good Luck,

    Ember xx

NO, I am not off the nasal spray, still using it. But I am not smoking and that is the main thing. The tailing off using it is a natural thing I think. I just seem to naturally use it less every day. The first day I was using it every half hour, now not so often. I imagine one day I will just wake up and 'forget' to use it. That is when I know I will be cured.

Was just browsing the internet and looked up 'nicotine' and scared the bee-jees outta myself reading how nicotine is a dangerous poison in it's own right. Most adverts on anti-smoking mention all the thousands of chemicals that harm us in each cigarette. Following my bit of research on actual 'nicotine' has made me even more determined to kick this habit and get off my spray as soon as possible.

  • When I stopped, I used Zyban - medication from the GP, I can't remember if it was free or just the price of a prescription. It was fantastic - I was quite half-hearted about stopping, but I just didn't want a cigarette, the thought of it made me feel sick.

I'm going cold turkey - wish me luck!! - Good luck to everyone, I'm surprised we haven't all snapped at each other yet - lol!!

I too had an awful nights sleep last nite, was tossing and turning and in the end got up and did some housework until 2am!! The mad thing is that I woke up and had marmite on toast which I haven't had in ages - really could do with a ciggie right now, I have almost a full pack of 20 left which is really bad as I just bought a new packet new years eve and lost it so bought another!! I woke up new years day and haven't smoked since so still have the leftovers :S

Wonder what the sleeplessness and marmite thing is all about?? I wonder if marmite is satifsfying a craving and keeping me busy?? :D

    Good luck all!!!
