Just opened a Birmingham and Midshire fixed rate bond at 6.6% with a £1 cheque. What a good move... I thought.!
I'm already a B&M internet saver but apparently it's not an internet account. I phoned them and I've got until Sunday to add deposits0 -
You can open it over the phone and then pay in a cheque in a haliax branch...the cheque doesn't have to have cleared by the deadline - it just needs to have been paid in...

When I called BOS about this they said the cheque had to be cleared by Wed.........so had to pay in 5k cash today......maybe we got different advice0 -
I'm also in the process of opening a Reward account but I'm waiting for funds to appear in my current account from my Birmingham Midshires savings account but I suspect I'm going to miss the deadline by a day. Will be really annoyed if that is the case but not a lot I can do about it.0

I opened a Guaranteed Saver Reward acct at the weekend for the proceeds of the sale of my house (currently renting). If you close the account before the 12 months period is up, you get the high rate of interest for every day up until you close the account. You are not penalised by reverting to the guaranteed saver rates just because you close the account early.0
