Wanted: Wife's Christmas present suggestions

Oooh, I'm a wife, and we've been together 14 years, and I usually get designer bags and perfume (hee-hee, I'm not OP's wife I don't think!!). Given the similarities, might help if I listed what I would most love - and you never know my DH might read this.
* The flower bed out the back, beautifully weeded, and all the bulbs we bought months ago planted, with some nice mulching added in for good luck
* A 'home-made' photo album of our recent holiday, that I can shove in my hand-bag and take round friends' houses - digitial photo frame is a bit of a novelty I'm afraid, and I can't take it with me!!!
* A CD for the car of all my favourite songs - he knows what they are!!
* Valet my car for me, and order the children not to drop any more McDonalds' in it, and especially tell them not to tread in any more dog doo into the carpets!
* The B&W photo of the kids that we've been talking about for ages for the dining room - could he please take this himself, have them printed out (Tesco's is fine). I quite like the silver frames in IKEA, and they're very reasonable for each pic (save on the professional framing!).
If there's any money left over from the budget - then I really wasn't joking, I really would like a goat, chickens or school dinners from Oxfam!!!!
I hope you find something OP!!!0 -
I'd second the purse idea, I had a lovely Radley one from hubby for my birthday to match my bag and I love it.
You could get maybe a dvd, chocs and possibly a few bits from Lush to add up to the £50.0 -
There's a day spa in London where the spa experience is only twenty quid per person.
I can't remember the name of it but if you go to the Guardian website there's a bit about hidden London in the travel section and they mention it there.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -

What about Membership to Hangbag Hire HQ - http://www.handbaghirehq.co.uk/gift-certificates.asp
Its usually £7.50 a month membership and then you can rent Designer Hangbags from £10+ (either rent for a week or a month).
No minimum membership period or anything like that. Think the cheapest is £22.50 for 3 months Membership.0 -
The gift I would most appreciate from my hubbie is a love letter.
Full of romantic lovingness that made me feel special, adored and appreciated.
Also a magazine, bar of my favourite chocolate and Starbucks voucher would be welcome; especially if it had a 'go out for a couple of hours on a Sat/Sun and enjoy some peace and quiet.' Maybe with a voucher for a facial/manicure if you think she'd enjoy that.
Alternatively a digital photo keyring (£40 last time I looked) pre-loaded with gorgeous family pics.
Finally, an evening out that he organised, down to every detail including booking the babysitter. It would be great for him to do this just the once.:)0 -
How about Googling her name, and "wish list" online just to see if she's made any wishlists anywhere?
I used to keep an amazon wishlist just to keep a note of books that sounded interesting that I might like to read at some point, but on the first birthday he was with me my clever OH looked it up and bought me all those books I'd been meaning to buy myself! I was well chuffedOwing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.
Illegitimi Non Carborundum!!!:cool:0 -
Travelodge were doing rooms for £9 - might be worth a look. You could take her to Bath or somewhere equally lovely for an overnight stay. There's a nice 'Ask' restaurant in Bath too and you may be able to get the half price vouchers that were on here. Then you've still got lots of cash left over for all the other things - i agree that the framed pic is always appreciated (on kodak gallery you can create collages). Primark do nice PJs for £5 - i don't typically shop in Primark but the one in Exeter is great. They do snuggly fleecey blankets for £2ish. There's a website on here called Artbox which has some stationery - it's qute childish, but if you sift through there's some lovely notebooks with messages on i.e. 'to the world you may be one person, but to one person you're the world' - I think these are nice as extras. I know i'd like lots of little thoughtful gifts rather than just one gift and with these ideas you could get it all. You could also make her a CD of all her fave music and sounds that you both love. I remember having one made for me about 10 years ago and it was amazing. You could buy her a foot lotion and do a voucher promising to give her a foot massage mmmm. You could also get a piece of cheaper designer jewellery/ belt - like something from Firetrap/ Diesel. If you give it thought and planning, like you are, £50 can go so far but not look cheap.Just £10,852.28p to go...
Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
And then do it.0
