No - Videophones can be locked too. ASDA have offered basic handsets complete with SIM for £7.99 and 1 year guarantee, I understand there's to be another promotion like this in the run up to Xmas...
  • I understand Vodafone handsets can be used with Asda mobile sim cards as Asda use the Vodafone network. The phone I want is exclusive to Vodafone but I want to use an Asda sim card in it. From what I've read it should be OK.

If you've joined ASDA mobile from another network and you'd like to keep your old number, that's fine.
We don't charge for this service so feel free to bring your old number with you.
All you have to do is ask your old network for your Port Authorisation Code (PAC). This is a code that lets you transfer from one network to another.
Once you have your PAC code just call our Helpline on 2732 or 0845 303 2732 from a landline and an ASDA mobile colleague will be more than Happy to Help. You will need to tell us your PAC code and the network you are moving from and we'll take care of the rest.
We'll send you a text to let you know when your number is ported across or if we have any problems we will give you a call.
The whole process takes just two working days.

vale46, though perhaps it's just me being daft, it might be helpful for you to clarify whether you're posting on behalf of Asda, or just copying and pasting from their website
