Boiler Restarting advice please

Hi,
We had a power cut on Saturday, which may not be relevent, and the boiler went out on teh same day. The restart button hasn't popped out, so we can't restart it. Can we just replace the button? Is there any other reason for the boiler not working? How drastic is this likely to be?
We've had no previous problems. It's a Baxi boiler.
Please ask if I haven't given enough info, I know diddly about the thing, but hopefully DH will be able to perform a simple fix, as we are already overdrawn and would seriously like not to spend any money iof we odn't have to.
Thanks guys, fingers crossed someone knows what I'm on about.:D

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

What is the exact model of the boiler? what external controls do you have? how do you normally start it?0
-
Baxi solo WM 70/4-50/4-40/4-30/4 PE.
An orange thermostat nob, and a reset button situated just inside the lower part of the boiler. Wwe normally just hold that button in for 15 secs, and all's well. But the button is not out. The boiler was serviced 12 months ago.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Are you saying that your pilot light is out?0

I've got the Solo WM50/4 PF. I don't think a power cut would make the reset switch go? I've flicked mine off at the switch before but never needed to reset. Only needed to reset when it overheated.
I assume you've checked the simple things? e.g. thermostat is not turned down and is actually demanding heat?
Does anything happen when you demand heat?0 -
Yes, the pilot is out. We have called for heat, the thremostat is at it's usual position, but we have tried increasing and decreasing. We've had our power off before too, and it's been fine, but I thought I should mention it, as it happened.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Manual and fault finding instructions here. Also on inside of main case.

It's an automatic pilot on these so no way to light manually it does it automatically in the start up sequence0 -
Yes, it is the start up sequence that isn't working. Is there any way of bypassing the reset button? Could we replace the button/unit?I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Is there power to the boiler?0

I had a similar problem a while back where one of the control lights was flashing or wasn't on. Something like that. When we removed the PCB (control board) it was clear that some of the electrical connections had gone brittle and cracked at the solder. 5mins with a soldering iron and a dab of fresh solder and it was sparking away again. A hell of alot cheaper than a new control board which (no offence) most heating engineers would probably just charge for0
