glad to see you're a fellow folder, you'll have to get the 9800gtx on the job (GPU 2 client), it'll wipe the floor with the quad! (around 6k ppd) :)

so they finally got it working on nvidia cards?
  • it kicks a$$ on nvidia, and sucks on ati :)

A Radeon HD 4850 will perform better than the 9800GTX + and save you about £30.

For £25 more than the 9800GTX+ you can get a HD 4870 that will outperform the 260, and over the average perform nearly well as a 280, as well as saving you a considerable amount of money.

That's just purely for gameplay. I've no experience of Folding@Home because it's not something that interests me, nor would be a factor in buying a graphics card.
  • I've only had one ATI graphics card and I hated it, so never went back.

Same as I only ever buy Intel CPUs because I had a similar problem with AMD
  • I've had 2, a rage3d and another that I really can't remember, but it was a sapphire one and fell over more than an alkie lotto winner. lesson learned.
though i did build a machine with a 4850 in it a couple of weeks ago (+q6600), very nice, and a little upsetting that i have a 9800gtx which cost double the price 5 months ago.

  • I had a Sapphire card that, at it's peak, reached 120degrees but managed to sustain a constant >100degrees temperature with no degredation in performance and no artifracting. It was faulty, and I had to return it and they took over six weeks to rectify. I don't rate Sapphire as a manufacturer at all.
