PSU Problems

I currently have this PSU in my computer
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/129949
But I am currently planning on upgrading my graphics Card, the card that I want:
BFG 9800GTX+ OC Edition
I was talking to a friend last night who told me that my PSU would not be powerful enough to run the card. The card requires 26A at 12V but my PSU only runs at 17A. He told me that this PSU would be able to run it, but after looking at the specs this morning for the higher 650W version, I don't think it will be enough to power my card.
So, can someone please help me in sorting out what PSU I need to get or if my PSU would be enough.
Thanks in advance

Since you already have the Seasonic, just try it. Nothing to lose.

what about if it doent work? what should i get then?0

the card also needs (if its anything like mine) 2 6 pin pcie connectors, adapters should come in the box, i use 2 from separate rails just to be safe, lot of money for a new card if it borks (£220 when I bought mine
)
oh...and I hope you have a really, really big case, the card is huge, I had to take my card clips off to fit the card in, then refitUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
yeah I have an Antec Nine hundred case so plenty of room
It also does need 2 6 pin PCI-E connectors or 1 6 pin PCI-E connector and 2 4 pin molex connectors.
I have all of that covered, its just the power outputs that are confusing me. I am in school at the moment so I can't get access to the website my friend gave me last night, it was direct from the Akasa website and showed the power output of the 550W PSU, but I can't seem to find that on the website when I search myself. I can only find the one for the 650W PSU in the same range but this does not have enough Ampage for the requirements of this card.0 -
Your mummy is giving you too much spending money

I hope your plan involves serious overclocking with a breezy case like that

I got the PC for christmas last year, the graphics card I got when I built it is crap, I only bought it because I was already running the risk of going over budget, so my graphics card is my christmas present this year.
The graphics card I want is already over clocked straight out of the box :P
And my CPU doesn't need over clocking, haven't really found any need for it because its Quad Core.0 -

ah..but now you're matching it with a decent GPU, 12 month old quad, probably a q6600? ramp it up to 3+ on air (with a decent cooler)!
....edit...but if it breaks don't blame me

yeah its the q6600. I just found out on the Ebuyer forums that my PSU is powerful enough, its dual railed, so therefore its power output is a total of 34A, which is more than enough to power the card.
And as for OCing the CPU, it runs at around 37-40 degrees whilst running a number of programs (Windows Live Messenger, Firefox, Media Player, Internet Explorer BBC iPlayer etc...as well as about 20 programs running in the background plus Stanford Universities Folding at Home)
I think the case temperature is about 31-34 degrees and peaks at about 36 when playing games.
I might have a look into overclocking it, but even then I don't think it would offer that much benefit in performance. I think I would get a better performance boost if I upgraded my RAM to the fastest possible and used an SSD to run my OS on.0 -
glad to see you're a fellow folder, you'll have to get the 9800gtx on the job (GPU 2 client), it'll wipe the floor with the quad! (around 6k ppd)

If you've got the cooling you can take the Q6600 past 3.6ghz. Mine's at 3.5ghz at the moment, it's nice.0
