I lurrrrrrrrve my Advent Calendar. It was bought in a pre-LBM moment about 4 years ago
. It's a wooden one with numbered boxes at the bottom you open each day and there is a small wooden toy. The 'calendar' is a tree you hang the wooden toys on. I think I bought it from Lakeland.

weirdly (for me!!!!) I don't go for chocolate advent calendars. I like to have something traditional. I used to love the really old fashioned nativity scene ones when I was a kid, the doors were all mixed up, rather than all lined up at the bottom and it would be stuff like a drum, or a robin behind the door each day. I'm just too much of a traditional kind of gal I guess.

We were at a craft class yesterday in our village. Erin (and i!) made some lovely wooden Xmas decorations, and also some very MSE baubles for the tree...
What we used were those plastic ball pit balls, tape a bit of string to top of it, then use PVA glue and scraps of wrapping paper overlaid and it comes out all kinda decoupage-ey... very very nice and a nice keepsake to have when kids are older... the PVA goes hard and kinda shiney so looks really nice when dried... we also rolled one of ours in glitter but i think they don't look quite as classy, but somehow more like our style!!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

oh I am so excited just had to post.
Cleaner company just been round to quote for cleaning....not very MSE I know, but I am looking at the wider impact of this. I am spreading the economy round. Plus it is not easy at all when OH works away and I am working full time and studying. They are coming round this week for 8 hours to do a full first clean, then four hours a week every week after that. They also do ironing..and they are doing my oven:eek:
Nanny bought Chloe an advent calendar and OH gave it to her, but she didn't quite understand the concept of waiting till 1st December. She ate all her chocolates on Saturday night. Its a good job I have another one in reserve...:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

When my Oma was alive I used to get the most beautiful advent calendars sent over from Germany. They were real works of art and no chocolate in sight. With hindsight I wish I'd kept them as they would have made lovely decorations for years to come. I don't really like the branded ones that seem to be everywhere now. When Bean is old enough I have (already!:o ) planned to have a wee project to make one together with home made sweeties that can be refilled every year.
At the moment hubbles has one made of match boxes. I put a wee note in each drawer with either a promise or a soppy message and a chocolate. He loves it:o26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

I don't have an advent calender but I used to really like opening them when I was younger. I wanted to go and buy X-mas cards and wrapping paper this week and get completely organised.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
