  • Emily - Having moved house/changed address 28  times, whatever you pack, make a list (one copy in a notebook, another copy in the top of the box as you seal it. Label the box for whichever room, unless it's a mixture, in which case just number 1 - 20 or whatever. On moving day, the most important boxes are those with kettle/toaster/microwave and goods for essential refreshments, the ones with curtains and bedding. When you arrive, get someone making drinks/snacks, and get on with hanging curtains, making beds. If you have pets or small people can you get someone to look after them for a few hours till you get the first few bits in. If possible, stack boxes to one side in whatever room they belong, leaving yourself room to sit, lie etc. Hope that's not too much "Teaching Granny to suck eggs" but I've had lots of practice. :rotfl:

Yep Pink Fairy feel heaps better that I managed to get the room sorted out. It was nice to see my dad and my daughter double take when they walked in.

2moz my challenege is to tackle the kitchen, arghhhhhhhhhh I hate the kitchen. It really needs a deep clean so hopefully can sort that out.

Any one got any good tips to get lino clean, its horrible stuff its the kind of lino that if you drop a cd on it, it will scratch the cd.

Wish window cleaning was such a good price over here! Probably cost $100 to do mine :( That's why I can't see through them atm LOL

Forgot to add to yesterdays doings that I folded and PUT AWAY a couple of days worth of washing . . . I never put my washing away - it sits on my drawers for weeks!

HUGS to all not feeling well.

I'm off for a shower, then get ready for work - need to be there in 45mins - better hurry . . . .

OJK I suppose in my friends mums case it was hospital error due to the way her leg was put which caused the problem and her leg turned out over 20 degrees I think she said. I suppose sometimes we do just have to count lucky stars.
pigpen you're probably there by now so good luck, I will be crossing my fingers for you for one minute at 6pm :)
Denise, wow, sounds like an opportunity for a small business where you are doing cheaper window cleaning!
emily the biggest things that helped me were - every day pre moved packed at least one bag/box and flung at least 1 bag/box (I am still amazed how much we could get rid of) labelled the boxes on the side and a list inside the top of every box of what was in.

Budget -- I find it really irritating that he's used the current oil price crash as an excuse that it's ok to put the 2p per litre on fuel, not as if it's going to stay that low when the economy improves the oil prices will go up, he didn't reduce it when the prices were high so why increase because they are low. Car tax thing just winds me up a treat especially on older cars. I don't think the measures put in place will assist the economy. I have downloaded the full PDF to go through in more detail later because I am a nerd like that but I'll probably just get more annoyed. I do wonder also how much it will cost businesses in implementing these VAT changes at such short notice, the changing of prices, websites, shop displays etc I am curious as to how they will do it. Yes a lot of my shopping has been done aswell, I think also he's forgetting because of the current economic situation peoples spending has reduced far more than £2.50 in every £100 because people are out of work/scared of being out of work.

Not spent anything today. Found a quiche for us for tea, made fishcakes for the boys, chips and beans. Fruit for desert. DS1s getting a free school meals week this week for 3 days (it's a shorter week as he's off Friday for training) so that will reduce costs a little, that means the sandwiches I have made in the freezer will last DS2 for his lunches, I won't need more yoghurts etc :D result. Have got some rolls out of the freezer to do burgers tea tomorrow (DPs request) will need to get the burgers out later, sure there is some pork and apple ones somewhere.

    Here it is
    [STRIKE]Not spend anything I don't NEED to[/STRIKE]:D:D
Pigpen's list  I'm at abut 1.25 ish
[STRIKE]Finish putting laundry away in my room
    Relocate contents of ottoman
Put xmas presents in ottoman (6 boxes of stuff 'dotted' around) [/STRIKE]doesn't all fit but sorted
[STRIKE]Phone round gas companies to get safety thing done (hopefully landlady will reply to email with an ok) [/STRIKE]just awaiting reply
[STRIKE]Spend an hour doing some of my research
Usual dailies (1 laundry load, vacuum through downstairs, S&S bathroom, meals, dog stuff etc etc)[/STRIKE]
One day I might be more organised...........

DS2 is playing a game that involves running round and round and round my coffee table, then playing gee up horsy on clifford the big red dog.

ARRGGHHHH..... why am I so stressed, they are quiet, they are behaving(for once). Must give myself a slap.
Spag bol cooking for mine and DP's tea. Kids in bed by 7.30, then I am going to sit and do nowt all night!

    Good luck Sammy Girl

My lists not too bad, quite pleased with that so far and I can do the rest tonight when DPs out of my hair. Backs gone off with all the carrying boxes upstairs and bending to empty the ottoman so going to have oodles of painkillers and a small rest first.

Oh and serves them right for using strange words a spell check won't catch
