Will Woolies honour gift vouchers

I know Woolworths trading is poor at the moment - if they sell up or go into liquidation will I lose the money against any gift vouchers I have bought?
If so (and I paid by credit card) can I claim the money back? The value of individual tokens is less than £100.
Should I rush out and spend the money - instead of giving them people for Xmas as I had planned?

They're nowhere near liquidation yet, so your vouchers are safe.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

Then just give cash for xmas!0 -

How are they "not fit for purpose"? They are still valid and not exchangeable for cash.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

Have they not gone into administration now? If their high street vouchers you can use them in other places, but if there is no woolies open then the vouchers are worthless! No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
I would spend them now no one knows how long they will continue trading for." I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"

You never know they may have a few bargains, if there is any decent stock left that is. I know our local one looks like its packing up already, empty shelves and no chance of them re stocking. Those poor staff know ing that they wont have jobs to go back to. Hope they get paid for xmas at least as that would be a final nail in their coffins.I would spend them now no one knows how long they will continue trading for.0 -
I'm no insolvency expert, just thinking logically... I would assume that gift voucher holders are just another creditor, and you would probably be well down the list (The actual administrators will get paid first, then HMRC come next, then any other prefferencial creditors like banks who have mortgages...)
But if they were bought on a credit card, then I assume your purchase would be protected that way?... unless there is some silly clause that it only protects actual "goods" and vouchers might not count as "goods" - its the sort of sly get-out clause that a credit card company is likely to have I suspect... I really hope I'm wrong on that!In the probably unlikely event that I actually post something of use to someone, an ickle vote of thanks would be much appreciated, in fact I might frame it and put it up on the wall next to my cycling proficiency certificate

To the OP spend them now and buy the presents yourself. Now Woolies are in administration there is a real danger that stores will start to close at Christmas. This is their best selling season so I would expect the administrators to continue trading for the time being, and also to start liquidating stock, so bargains to be had now, which is going to causee other retailers big problems and will flush out the weak among them[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

According to GMTV this morning, the stores will probably stay open for another few weeks to try and sell off goods, so best to spend vouchers ASAP.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0
