Then they ARE talking c**p .. Its the network that supplies the unlock code, not the shop and not Nokia.

It will still get around £100 on Ebay though.

I know they are talking c**p and i will never buy another phone/contract off of them because of it and know of a good few others too, the thought of ebaying it puts me off as you read the stories in this and other forums but hopefully maybe in a few months unlocking these phones might become a bit more available so i will wait.

  • I wasn't expecting this many replies to a thread I started, allbeit many of the posts straying from the starting subject :p

Anyways, i took the plunge and got the Nokia N70 and I've gotta say I really do like it, it is orange branded but I can't see how it could differ *that* much from the standard software, the phone is slightly slow at times, but hey. My N70 came with an adapter lead as well as a charger, so i have my own charger and the adapter allows old nokia chargers to be used to charge the phone... did nobody else get this with theirs??

I'm happy with the phone, I certainly would say CHILL!!! to the people who tell others to steer clear, the phone works, it's great. You can even change the function of the two buttons on the home screen to do anything from take you to the clock settings, turn on bluetooth, to surfing the web. Can't moan!!

try linking orange branded N70 to your pc.......then tell me the phone is great on orange

" the phone is slightly slow at times " believe it gets worse with time and data storage

"N70 came with an adapter lead as well as a charger, so i have my own charger and the adapter allows old nokia chargers to be used to charge the phone... did nobody else get this with theirs??" yes all standard, but so is the memory card, do u have one? just you didnt mention it.....

it really isnt that bad if you dont want to use all the nokia standard functions and downloadable programs, but then why buy the N70 symbian 60 phone people, lets face it it aint small ! its that size for functionality which orange have disabled loads with thier own software, glad your happy though :)

Can I ask did you get a cd rom with Orange Talk now application on it?
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
    If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:
    :D

I assume you have been speaking to Customer Services in India who are acceptable (just about) for simpleton queries but if you ask anything slightly technical and "computer says (don't) no" then they just pass the buck.

I'm sure your letter will get a better result if you sent it to the right people and made the right kind of (gentle) threats!!!

Does anyone know if 02 have stopped doing the Nokia N70. I was looking on their site while ago and they had the phone, today it doesn't seem to be available.

Also does anyone know if it is/was only available on the £35.00 a month tariff.
    Thanks.
  • A guy from work ordered one last wednesday and got it the next day. That was an upgrade tho.

Try giving them a call, the website could be playing up or out of stock.

02 are releasing the N80 on 18th Jan so N70 is now dropped well that is what I have been told! Could be some cheap N70's around soon but I would think the N80 will be expensive as it has a 3Mpixel camera and wifi.

Oh, I want to upgrade so might try them. Bit miffed with O2 at the moment so was hoping to wrangle some sort of deal out of them. Just waiting for my phone bill to come in so I can give them grief over the text service on Christmas day. Thanks.
