Can anyone get their Wii to work with AOL BB?

My daughter has just got a Wii.
My DH has his PS3 connected to the internet, it was an easy setup the PS3 did most of the work.
But we can't get DDs Wii on the web too.
Its the DNS address that appears to be the problem, it seems AOL might not be compatable with Wii.
Here is the gump from AOL
Some internet software (e.g. an email or newsgroup reader) may ask you for an IP address or DNS address when you try to use it alongside AOL. AOL is generally not compatible with such software because AOL IP addresses are dynamically assigned and change every time you sign on.
When you connect to AOL a number is assigned to your computer to uniquely identify your computer among the millions of others connected at the same time. This number is known as an IP Address. When you disconnect from AOL this number is retrieved and assigned to someone else when needed. This is known as 'Dynamic IP Addressing.'
A DNS number is similar to an IP Address except instead of identifying your machine it identifies the server you are connecting to. When you type in a web address the information is sent to the server which then retrieves the page and sends it to your machine.
Does this mean if she wants her Wii on the internet, she I have to find another ISP?
Be grateful if you could "dumb down" any answers, tech is not my forte:o

How do you connect to AOL? Do you use a router? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Someone with a Wii should be able to help you regarding connecting it to a Netgear wireless router but "the gumph from AOL" is irrelevant as the router handles this. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Doesn't make any difference if it's AOL or another provider. You need to check-up on the set-up procedure for the console. Scan for your network, enter your WEP key and you can connect!0

when we were on aol ( using o2 now) we connected fine with our netgear , had no problems at all0

have you enabled UPnP or manually forwarded the ports needed?
(i am assuming it connects to the router ok, but cant get any internet connectivity)
edit - cant find a guide for the wii on portforward.com but they should have one on there0 -
diddly to do with aol imo. I connect with no issues at all via AOL.0

We've put inthe WEP key & when you scan for automatic DNS it can't pick it up & you have to input manually.
AOL say they don't provide this address.0 -

My DH & DD think we need the portcodes to give to NETGEAR & NETGEAR say when we have those they will help us get on.
But AOL say they can't give us the port codes.
Do we need to get them from Nintendo? We tried to call them (but they are shut).0 -
Can all these people who connect tell us idiots how to:o0
