I'm a nurse and used to work in a neonatal unit where I learned a few skin care tricks.
1. Use diaper rash cream on rough, dry, and wind and sun damaged skin- works a treat but keep a seperate one for the baby!
2. Baby oil is just mineral oil with perfume added- save yourself some money by making your own with essential oils. Great for dry skin and make-up removal.
3. Those pore strips are basically masking tape so use that and save money.
4 Preparation H and the like are great for tired, puffy eyes. Again, keep a seperate one!
5. Speaking of keeping things seperate, just stick a 'do not touch' label on things or make up a code everyone in the house understands so your things stay safe and clean.
6. Put old make up in the freezer for a week or so to kill bacteria and germs. Wont kill everything, but it does take care of most nasties.
7. Sugar in any oil makes a great exfoliating scrub and saves you loads!
8. Liquid fabric softener makes a good winter or emergency hair conditioner, just be sure to water it down 3:1 water to conditioner.
9. Keep a fabric softener sheet in your bag to rub over your hair or clothes as needed to remove static.
10. After Christmas, Valentines, and Mothers Day are the best times to get bargains on make up and perfumes.
11. Warm your mascara before using it to make it flow better and clump less. Just sit on the tube or put it between your legs while you're doing the rest of your make-up. NEVER heat it!!!
12. Any unperfumed products like oils, conditioners, etc. can take essential oils so you can make cheap or hypoallergenic items smell the way you like.
13. Baby wipes are great for removing make-up, but be sure to use the cheap ones in a can- they are much softer and less likely to dry your skin.
14. Always put lotion (diaper rash cream) on your cheeks, lips, and nose before going out- it helps protect from wind and sun rash.
15. Diaper rash cream also works where skin rubs against skin to stop irritation- works great in the summer to prevent rashes forming.
16. As for that snake bite kit bruise- always massage bruises to help them heal- start very gently and increase pressure as you can. This helps because a bruise is just an accumulation of blood in the skin layers. By rubbing you increase cirrculation and help the body remove the blood from the area. Also works for pain, swelling, and puffiness not associated with a more severe injury.
17. Use rolled oats as an exfoliator- can be mixed with honey to make a face mask. Leave on for 10 minutes or so, then gently use it to scrub clean. Works to exfoliate rough, dry lips too.
18. A cup of rolled oats in the bath helps dry, irritated skin calm down- works for chicken pox itching too.
19. Natural yoghurt makes a great face mask for irritated or spotty skin. Just slather it on, leave 10 minutes, and rinse.
Thats all I can think of right now!
As for a confession, I admit to using all the above! lol

Yes, I'm female, my parents just couldn't spell! lol0 -
I use baby lotion as a make up remover & distilled witch hazel (which has mild anti-bacterial qualities) as a toner...
Thanks for all the tips - will definitely be trying some of them0 -
