Pace Twin tuner recorder

  • Hi
Ditched Sky altogether, bought a Topfield5800 PVR, 160gb hd, twin tuner, records 2 channels, whilst watching another, excellent quality and reception, one button record, all the freeview channels, dead easy to setup and record, and excellent quality in picture and when you playback your recordings.

Love it and wouldn't do without it now.
Seconded - I bought one of these last September. IMHO it is better than $ky+, and you can upgrade it yourself with new programmes to improve the functionality even further. There is even a website where you can get problems solved (a bit like this one). If you want even more channels, you can use its CAM slot for TopUp TV.

Unless you plan to watch things that ONLY $ky can show (like some sports or the occasional series), $ky is a bit of a waste of money. AFAIK, the £10 is on top of a regular package to allow you to use the $ky+ functionality, unless you pay for two premium packages. A typical $ky+ subscription of £45pm is £540pa, for which you can get a fully-specced PVR, lots of internet DVD rentals, and have lots of money left over.

I'm not saying don't go for $ky+, just think if you'll REALLY use it. Lots of people on the Toppy forum have ditched $ky/$ky+ for the Topfield...

The PACE twin is very old hat these days.

I think you would be better picking up one of the Sagems from Argos .

    Ben

Think i might do that as we dont really record that much but would be handy and you get much the same channels on freeview as we watch anyway.
