Hi
Has anyone managed to get an M & S card, I have just been refused my credit reference is ok but as I am financially linked to husband who as a couple of defaults one which he is disputing I have been refused.
Just wondered if anyone has managed to get one and does your credit file has to be excellent.
Many Thanks:j

If you share a financial product with someone else eg. joint bank account, then you are financially linked and the poor management of their affairs could certainly have a knock-on effect on your credit rating.
If you have an otherwise unblemished credit report, it would be worth separating your financial affairs. Whilst you remain linked, lenders are likely to view you as too great a risk. Once your a/cs were separated though, you could write to the credit reference agencies and ask for a notice of disassociation, to stop his credit history affecting yours in future and vice versaPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
i wouldnt bother..i have "perfect" credit score, never defaulted on anything, and i close CC that i dont use anymore,i havent moved house recently etc..and i still get refused by them, i tried some others an got it straight away.TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

Well, I was accepted for an M&S card without difficulty. This lender is not known to score particularly harshly.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

Moggles, what other cards do you have/what is on your CRAs?
I heard M&S phone you and hassle you at your workplace to check you really work there?0 -

Dont think so... mum has one and she is medically retired due to disability (but she is classed as unemployed as she is under retirement age) and she got one with no problems with a decent limit.
She hasnt had any calls yet checking that she's done the housework as she put her occupation as 'housewife' :rotfl:*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Thanks for all your replies. I cannot separate my credit file as they say because we have a joint mortgage I am financially linked. I wouldn't mind I entered the information about 6 years ago thinking we would get both reports by paying once, (how stupid) I have tried to separate the files but they won't do it unless divorce, or separated. They said that they would have still attached reports because of our mortgage which I think is a load of rubbish but unfortunately I have been penalised also.0

Just found out why I was refused because I just changed my mortgage last April and already have two credit cards. (Never missed a payment) Never mind, they told me to reapply in two months, Not sure I will get one then0
