Yes thats how these dial through numbers work.

Im still confused, so how do 'dialaround' make any money ?

If a call from my justdial phone line is made to the 'dialaround' 0844 number to access an 0845 number surely justdial want some cash for the 0844 call and dialaround want some cash for the 0845 number ?

I stopped worrying about such firms' business models some time ago.

    I just use 'em!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Whenever you dial a dial through access number be it 0844/0845/0870/0871 you only pay the call supplier for the call. The company that delivers the call onwards does not charge you a penny. They recieve a cut of the call charge from the call supplier in your case JDS. I guess in the case of calls to 0845 its a loss leader service that Dialaround are providing.

Heinz, Im not concerned either about their profits etc..but just making sure i was getting the cheapest way to call an 0845 number at peak times.

So you are saying the cheapest way to call an 0845 number at peak times is to use 'dialaround' from either a bt line or a justdial line etc ?

    thanks

The cheapest way to call 0845 numbers at peak rate is via BT using the 0844 dialaround number at 2p a minute, or the https://www.dialwise.co.uk 0844 462 67 67 at 2p a minute. It looks like from the figures you quote JDS charge slightly more to call 0844 numbers. !!!!.
