On a more serious note, why not use an answer machine, and only pick up if it's someone you want to speak to?
We have an answerphone which we leave on 24 hours a day and let them leave a message. Also we have a message that just tells them to call later and won't let them leave a message:beer:I am at a Crossroads in my life and deciding which path to take:coffee:

I wouldn't mind but our Standing Order goes to Payplan on the 3rd of the month, and they didn't pay our creditors until the 18th??.
Grrr - Payplan did this to me this month too - idiots - so I've been swamped with calls and letters from my creditors too.
I have debts will all of the companies you mention, but (apart from this month) I've not been getting any calls at all. Are you sure Payplan are doing everything right? They shouldn't be harrassing you if they're getting regular payments...My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Hi MLF,
So Payplan did the same to you..........I will be ringing them on Monday to see what is going on. We have spoken to Clydesdale this evening, (hubby is back so he ca deal with it) and they have now removed the £12 charge from our account. We explained situation with Payplan, and hopfully it won't happen again. I am not sure what happens, but from conversations with several creditors, it seems that they want another Financial Statement from Payplan, because they review our situation every so often. Have you found this to be the case? Have you been with them long.

Hi,
Yep - creditors like to see an updated SOA every 6 months or so, but I pre-empted it because I received a pay rise 2 months ago so Payplan sent them all an amended SOA anyway.
It's annoying that Payplan have messed up (see my other thread) and I'm thinking of ditching them and just doing it myself from now on. Let's face it - it's us, not Payplan, that creditors contact anyway, so I'm not sure what we're gaining by going via Payplan. My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Payplan will always take the money in the early part of the month and pay to your creditors at the end of the month, it's how they make their money to keep running.
However, this is NOT the reason for the late fee. The late fee is because you aren't paying your minimum amount due so whatever date you pay, you'll get charged. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Hi Gemmzie,
It's the first time that we have been charged £12 for a late fee, and surely when they have agreed to accept our monthly payment with Payplan they then should not be charging us money because its not the minimum payment?
I will ring Payplan on Monday and see what they have to say about it.

We didn't get charged late fees for months, then they started all of a sudden. We took it up with the Ombudsman and they said, (this is a bit complicated so hope it makes sense) that as charges stand at the moment, they are entitled to charge as we have broken the contract. However, credit card charges can be claimed back so not to worry about it too much.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130
