A spinal epidural?
My pain clinic consultant has recommended i try one for my prolapsed discs with sciatic pain, but i am a bit unsure of anything invasive. I take such a cocktail of drugs that it would be great to remember my own name for more than 10 minutes, but can they go wrong, do they work??

Hi Jodie
I had a spinal epidural, sadly it didn't work for me. However my back was in a mess, ended up with surgery. I have heard of some good results, the only thing is you are limited to how many you can have.
Fingers crossed it works for you0 -
hi jodie
i have had a few of these the first one worked for around a month then the others didnt, ended up having surgery twice....which have both failed am waiting for my 3rd op...would give it a go its pretty painless and u wont lose anything by taking the chance
good luckalways send a smile as it costs nothing..

i had about 8 of these before they stopped working
i wouldnt say it was painless having it but the relief when it kicks in was,for me, enormous... i would definitely give it a go
good luckWhen you know better you do better0 -
Hi Jodie. I had one a year ago, I found it was quite painful, this was because I hadn't taken any pills before going in and so was already hurting alot. It didn't work for me at all. Are you having a stearoid epidural?0
-
I've had one after an RTA and it was a god send, it hurts to get it administered but the relief after it was well worth it.0

I've had three as I have spondylolithesis and I don't rate them.Infact I had a reaction after one of them and was quite ill.I won't have anymore.
I have known people who swear by them but I suppose everyone reacts differently.0 -
Thanks, that was what i thought tbh.
i'm due for a steroid one, but am terrified of how they work etc ( had a "normal" epidural when i had my son).
they have told me they will keep adding steroid until i feel relief, but i am terrified i will not feel it, or not till too late, and then not have enough feeling to walk out of there.Ok, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!:eek:0 -

They must do it differently now as when I had my steroid epidural injections they did a normal one to numb me from the waist down and then added the steroids so I did'nt know wether or not it had worked until several hours later when the numbness wore off.0 -
When I had mine done it was under a local, at about 3pm. The local started to wear off about three hours later. This is when the pain realy started for me, without trying to put you off or make you worry these steroid epidurals don't work for every one and for aprox 1% it hurts and doesn't work. Looking back I don't think I would have it done. BUT if it had worked I wouldn't be poping pills like smarties.
Let us know how you get on with it.0 -
mrs woodbine had a few,the first was quite effective but the later ones were less than useful0
