I'm £130.00 IN CREDIT, just looked at my online banking to see BG as taken £73.00 , not bothered to tell me my payment was going up.
My previous DD was £49.00 for the last 2 months, £ 35.00 the 10 months prior,
Never been in debt with them always credit, I'm on CE6 , surely gas has not gone up %100 in last 12 months!!!
I asked why it had gone up ( while on hold, was told by automated voice , price fix 2012 is still available, lol,) apparently its computer generated on previous use.... i said i was paying £35 last winter..
argued a bit with each other, i was told the price can not be manually changed and i f i didn't like it , change to another supplier( who would start me low and get me in lots of debt , :his words),
British gas, and customer service, dont really go together, robbing sh$$s!!0 -

Backfoot,
I am not aware that I have denied others have a legitimate complaint; and posted this:Nobody is disputing the figures in your individual case.
My case was the exact opposite of yours, an unjustified reduction in DD.
Which is why I advanced the c0ck up rather than conspiracy theory.0 -

If they haven't told you that your DD was increasing, they are in breach of the DD agreement and your Bank will immediately refund the additional money.
Bear is mind though they normally put the notification of the increase on a bill and it is very easy to miss.0 -

Not sure if it is immediate, think i may have a form to fill in at the bank, you might be right though system could of changed,
The notification was not on my previous online bill, double checked and printed it, also no message on BG account, e-mail or post.
My DD is variable, i was informed, if i want to choose, the amount, i was informed i would have to set up a standing order, if they did not agree with the amount i set up, i was told they would just reject it. Also loose DD discount!
Seems to me they are dictating how much i pay.
I was told the computer generates on assumed usage off last years usage,
My partner is now at work all day, this was not the case last year, i told them we would use less, guess what???
COMPUTER SAYS NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
sick of em, ive just complained to Andy eley, head of customer complaints, see where that gets me...
Think i know the answer already!!0 -

Cardew,
You will have to forgive me if I don't understand your debating style. As stated, I am a relatively new member here.
A few posts back, I made a minor, but I hope valid comment, about the comparison you had used.I think you accepted the point. That was however, contained in a very lengthy unprovoked rant at me, which can be read by all.
I think I politely responded that I didn't recognise the insinuations about being led by others and gave my explanations and background for being involved here as a customer affected by a DD policy/procedure.In the case of BG it is the first complaint I have made about them.
All you could do was quote the above which I had already fully accepted and totally ignored the fact that you had thrown a complete and out of context wobbly.:rotfl:
I guess I will get up to speed sooner or later.:D0 -

Apologies - my post was over the top.
I was irked by being called a 'fan of BG' - so that devalues any input I might make - and that set off my reaction!!
It seems to me that of late there is little rational and reasoned debate in this forum, and any post that isn't total and utter condemnation of the Utility companies is belittled and the poster accused of a vested interest. A good example is your expression "Utility lovers" - which hardly adds to reasoned debate.
Take this thread.
Surely we should identify if the problem exists, which companies are guilty, and quantify the effect.
However it has built up to yet another full frontal attack on all utility companies on every aspect of their performance, full of emotive words. An individual case is absolute proof for some posters that a policy change has taken case.
Frankly it is almost like a lynch mob mentality at times.0 -

SP were, indeed, the most irritating of my suppliers when it came to reviewing the DD amount too often, but it wasn't such an extreme amount as to cause me to believe they were being dodgy tbh.
BG, on the other hand, thus far are being a dream as they are charging me the amounts I selected - end of story.
Oh the dream, i was there at one time, just swapped from N-power, told BG about my billing problems. " we can assure you, you will not encounter those problems with us", i was told, lol,
Give em 12 months, they graciously gave me about 12 months, then while i am in £130 credit on gas alone, they raise DD by %100 in three months,
Well they dont the "computer does" newt u can do aboutit, or them!!What the computer says goes..
Enjoy your DD dream with BG for now, it wont last long..0 -
I would just like to say that I have never ended up consistently in credit whilst paying by DD.
I have however managed to build up debt balances by having the payments set up at too low a level.
I haven't yet been with every electricity supplier though, so I can't comment for most of them!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
Like I have always maintained, any POV Cardew doesn't agree with he classes as 'irrational and unreasonable'. That man's ego is only matched by his arrogance...Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0
