With respect who do you think will take your advice if they know you've not been able to manage your own finances - and with bankruptsy it's printed in your local paper.
Really do you think financial services is going to be recruiting any time soon ?
Have you been living on planet earth for the past 6 months ?
Thanks for your comments although you come across quite harsh. Have you been bankrupt yourself? I am considering it very seriously and weighing up the options as to my career. I was running my own business until the economy nose dived and when things are already tough it doesnt take alot to snow ball out of control.
With regard to working in financial services i see what you are saying and its not what i really want to do but it will do for now and pay the bills. I have found someone who is recruiting never the less and paying a salary. I have my financial planning exams from years ago.0 -
Hi Willsandolly, don't take any notice of what other people think, they obviously have not been through hard times and hope they don't have to. Some people are very quick to judge without knowing all the facts doesn't it !!!! you off0

Hi Willsandolly, although i am not going to be a financial adviser or anything, I do work in a bank, I was so worried that I would lose my job if I went BR but my manager said I would not, so you should be fine unless you are doing any sort of advisory work which I don't think you would be allowed to do. Hope things work out well for you and just ignore the rude people, not worth it.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0

I agree the best counsellors are those who have been through it themselves so I think a financial advisor shouldnt be any different. I think Girl is very rude and judgmental and obviously isnt bankrupt. Why come on a bankrupt thread when you are not or nor have been or even thinking about going bankrupt?
Get off your high horse Girl, people like you with their holy than holy morals make me sick. You haven't a clue what people in serious debt go through.0 -
Thanks every one (bar one!) for all your support and we all agree she was very rude with her comments.
I dont know about some of you out there but this past year has been hell and debt affects you in every possible way. depression, unhealthy thoughts of life being unbearable, shutting yourself away and keeping secrets. feeling physically sick with worry.
I will be glad when this years over and i can delete it from memory and look to getting back on track next year , even though i will more than likely go bankrupt.

know exactly how you feel willsandolly, feeling same and keeping it mostly to myself with the exception of my OH and people on here, no one in my family knows about debt situation and not going to know either. I am trying miserably to save for the BR fees, going to take me a while though i think.
gotta keep going though!BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
I could be wrong, but I believe that it's "professional" people who require practising certificates to work who cannot go bankrupt (eg accountants and lawyers). If you need some sort of FSA certificate to do the job then that might be a problem? I'm a legal secretary so I would be able to go bankrupt and not have it affect my job, but my lawyer bosses wouldn't be able to. Good luck anyway, I have nothing but respect for anyone who tries to better themselves to give themselves more job opportunities. Although I'm not sure how stable the financial services market is right now!DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Untrustworthy doesn't come into, just because circumstances have happended beyond your control why should you be penalized, if you went BR through silly spending taking out credit over maxing yourself then that's a bit different but you cann't help being ill and you certainly don't know what's round the corner you can only deal with the best you can and BR was out nest option my OH has an illness which he will suffer from for the rest of his life, I'm sure that if we advanced warning of this we would not have taken out a mortgage or any credit so I think its very unfair to judge, just because you are in financial difficulty which mos tof the country is doesn't mean you are any different at doing your job than before you were BR, in fact you are probably going to be better
NO most of the country is not in financial difficult a !!!!less few are.
You can take out insurance with every debt you agree to and that is what anyone with half a brain does, thinks ahead and plans for every eventuality.0
