Thought this update might help others. Had cost of fixing overheating covered by the AA warranty-superb service from AA and the grage-no quibble just a straightforward refund minus £25 excess of cost of fan and waterpump replacement (Note car had been in local garage three times for overheating and hadn't been fixed properly)

As stated on another thread immobiliser/replacement key fob sorted for £40 by auto electrician (local garage/BMW dealer quoted £200-£250)

Set of replacement tyres/wheels provided by the specialist garage £150 matching the original metric alloys

Tests done by specialist garage and test by diagnostic auto technician -£40 and came to the house-indicate cat put in by round the corner garage is failing. It passed MOT but won't pass again. So am now sending a letter asking for the warranty-don't hold out much hope----

So from now on car is going to specialist (but not main dealership garage)

Have sent garage letter re cat-some apparently have 2 year warranty some 5.I can't get garage to give me the details-am now very suspicious. Could write off the money for the cat-two tests have indicated that although it passed the MOT this time it won't do it again ie it'll die before a 2 year warranty is up. Garage won't give me any details at all. There is no question of me ever taking the car back there again
