Broken Kettle - out of warranty by 2 weeks.

Options
I bought a kettle from Asda 1 year and 2 weeks ago (17/12/04). Yesterday the top of it has become stuck and very hard to open, had to fill it up through the spout.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4221713.htm

This one, i had it as a pricing error was £44.99 but they marked it as £19.98 so i only paid that.

Now is there anyway asda will take it back or swap it, or could i contact breville?

Sorry if on wrong board, unsure where to put it.

I would contact breville and appeal to their better side! I'd say that I'm sure when they made it they didnt expect it to break after such a short life, and that you were surprised and disappointed that such a well known brand would last this long.

Isnt there also something about electrical items being supposed to last 6 years?

Depends whether she has a gas/electric hob, and how efficient that hob is!

And gas prices are going to rise :(

If this was me, I'd be looking to see why the lid is sticking, it might need a clean, give it to someone who is technically minded to see if they can fix it.

Continue to fill from the spout, big deal, that's how I fill my kettle half the time. (I don't use my kettle it is just used as a water storage for my squash).

I have given it a clean it had 2 'bird beaks' type of lips and one of these always gets jammed. Don't blame me blame the missus who drinks loads of tea. :D

OK call me cheeky if you like.....

If you only really want an exchange then i'd take it back to ASDA, tell them you can't find your receipt, tell them it is faulty and you don't think you have had it a year and ask just for an exchange. :o:o

    *goes off and hides.....
  • ........and if the worst comes to the worst, Woolworths (and, I think, Asda) have perfectly servicable plastic kettles for under £6!

I'd buy one for the store cupboard if I didn't already have a spare left in the loft from the time I lived without hot water for 2 years and used to boil 3 kettles every morning for a shower  a story for another day, I think :snow_laug

And if ASDA don't exchange it take it to Argos and give them the same story. See if they'll change it.

(I find that they are very willing).

According to the PM you sent me you aren't entirely sure if you didn't buy it from them anyway, are you? :xmassmile
