I'm going to London for a few days, the daytime will be at my own leisure, so I'd like a few ideas as to where and when to go places, also if there is anything specific going on at that time that I should see?
During the evenings i will be jooined by a friend, where we plan on seeing Billy Elliott show - any ideas of the cheapest places to get good tickets?
Also I'd liike to go on the London Eye, again in the evening. What is the best way to get tickets? Can you ge them at the L.E?
I'd like to visit a museum where there are old clothes and general museum stuff, not specific to anything really. Any idea and prices?
I will be staying in the Premier Inn at Tower Bridge, now I havent been to London for about 25 years and that was only for a day shopping trip!!
I have never used the tube so have no idea of what to do re travelling around as I understand taxis can be expensive.
So all ideas re making my trip a good one would be appreciated.

Victoria and Albert museum (Gloucester Road, Circle or District line from Tower Hill) for old clothes and that. Tower of London is O.K. I suppose, a bit expensive! Have look around Covent Garden, The Borough market on Friday. Remember to stand on the right on the escalators, don't be afraid to ask for directions - most of us are very friendly you know. Like to help more, but I've got to rush now. Hope you have a nice time.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

Get a 3 day pass on the underground and it will soon pay for itself. I think it's £17.50 but at £4 a single trip you'll be in pocket after 5 trips.
I've always done well for theatre tickets with http://www.westendtheatre.com/ but I think you'll struggle to get cheap tickets for Billy Elliot with anyone as it's a huge success and there are not many discounted tickets out there.
Why not take a visit to the Saatchi gallery http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/new_art_from-china.htm . The current exhibition of Chinese art is very different and even if you are not into art I think you'll find it interesting. The old men in the electric wheelchairs is worth the visit on it's own and the whole thing is free.Age & Treachery Will Always Overcome Youth & Enthusiasm !!

There is a German christmas Market along the South Bank and the lights in Covent Garden look fantastic if you fancy some early festivities. Borough Market for a spot of Christmas foodie shopping and the Tate Modern for a browse. All not far from the London Eye so you could combine it with your visit.0

The window displays & lights in Oxford St (and Regent St) look nice and festive at the moment. Also, I think this looks lovely! http://www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com/
Can recommend Wicked if you can't get tickets for Billy Elliot. Have you checked LastMinute.com for deals? Sometimes cheaper to do a show & dinner deal than just the show...

I was about to recommend the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park but I see someone has already beaten me to it!
I love the Tower of London, it is quite expensive but I think that goes for most tourist attractions in the city. I'd pre-book London Eye tickets in case it's busy & you could end up queuing for hours.
Also, the Original Bus Tours are brilliant, even if you don't get off at any stops & do the whole loop - they take about two hours & the tour guides are fabulous. You can pick it up very easily in Piccadilly Circus - there'll be people in red coats hanging around trying to sell you tickets!Best 2013 win - £2k trip to China!

I remember a few weeks ago that Tesco clubcard vouchers could be redeemed against Billy Elliot - don't know whether that is still the case but that would be a good way to be very MSE!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 607 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T
