Let us know how you get on with this...

after the digital switchover date, this will effect all of us.
  • Thank you all,

I thought the whole MHS/DE thing was sorted out now - obviously not and whilst I've still got 9 years to serve I doubt it will be sorted by then either...:rotfl:

Will check out the freesat in addition to checking the state of my aerial - I'm sure it's broken....

    Thanks again
  • The easiest option may be to buy one and erect it yourself, then take it down and bring it with you when you march out.

I've just spent 4 months fighting with MHS to get them to do something about the rubbish reception on my TV. It is still not fixed, but the situation seems to be that MHS are responsible for mending an existing aerial, but not for replacing it if a new one is needed. That is an INW (Incidental New Works order) which is a DE responsibility. DE will not replace an aerial unless MHS have checked to make sure that there is no problem with it.

After a great deal of complaining and much stress, I managed to get MHS to come and check the wiring from the aerial to my TV (which is fine). This only happened when someone sympathetic at my HIC took pity on me and got the DE Contract Compliance branch involved.

I then made a lot more fuss, and finally ended up with 4 men here for a whole afternoon. One was on the roof, one was holding the ladder, one was in front of the TV and the last one was supervising. My TV signal is now slightly worse than it was before:confused:. They left, promising to phone and let me know what would happen next. Needless to say, I have heard nothing since.

When I have the strength, I will phone up and start the whole process up again.

Well done for putting up with the system. Welfare officers or the housing officer (sometimes equally difficult to get hold of) make a good ear to bend when you are at whits end. Also you could ask to see your MHS Tenant Liason Officer, who should come to you.
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.

I would say the MHS liason person is a good option too. That way you can 'harrass' a single person and they actually know what you are on about, instead of getting someone different every time you have to ring up.
