I spoke with someone there, and whilst they won't price match they promised that I'd be allowed to take the item back instead for a full refund. I don't think they'd normally let you do that for an opened entertainment item, but I now have a call reference which explains my situation and their agreed action. If they try and renege on that now I'll be calling the credit card company :rotfl:

So you shook hands, done the deal and used the product, now want your money back. Very honourable and trust worthy. NOT. What if you find one next year at a car boot sale for £3 ??

Most other retailers would happily refund the difference if asked to within a few days of the original sale. John Lewis would. Comet would.

I just asked Asda Customer Services to make an exception on this occasion, since they were charging much more than a competitor. Whilst they couldn't refund the difference they agreed that they could do a refund. They agreed to do so by their consent. I never threatened them and just put my point across. I'd say that's pretty fair.

And besides, it's not as if Asda haven't made enough money out of me in the past year (I do my weekly shop there)...
