    ok.start a fresh policy with him and yourself. as long as you dont make any claim or involve in accident then you can cancel in 14 days without any penalties.then insure in your name only.

    Ask the ins co about time limits first. We are with Asda and they only allow 24 hrs to cancel with no penalties, if you cancel after 24 hrs you have to pay an admin fee.

    Ask your insurance company full stop. Direct Line are happy to add named drivers for set periods - have done it myself. Even with an admin charge it's still cheaper to add inexperienced son for summer vacation than pay for him to be on for whole year!
