I never heard of that printer but you can get the R200/220 for about £65. I got BOGOF inks 2 back and 5 colour, 14 inks total for about £8 last Summer and still got plenty left thank God, because inks are getting diffiuclt to get hold up. You can get inks for £1 each or slightly less from northdevoncomputers

I got them from SVP last Summer but it was a promotion I doubt they have any for sometime due to the legal position. SVP dont sell Epson inks now.

I could do with some more I am glad I got stocked up but they are running down. I buy all my media/inks from SVP for years and may ahve to look else where now because I cant afford two lots of postage, inks and media form different suppliers.

Its was about £8 for 1 black and 6 colours x2. It maye have bene 2 blacks I cant be 100% sure now but very cheap and branded inks.

I bought the Epson Dx4200 for £69 from Pc world. Its advertised at £79 instore but they price matched dixons & currys.

not a bargain for a 3 in 1 but i needed one soon.

Only question do scanners these days not come with any text recognition software? (my old scanner from over 6yrs ago used to do this) I could not find anything within the scanner menu....any clues?
  • I've got a programme called OCR Textbridge which came with my scanner.

Poppycat: What/where/who is SVP :o and don't they have Epson inks anymore? :(

CrazyChemist I think I mentioned before but SVP along with some other etailors dont sell compatbels due to Epson legal action. Hopefully thsi will be resumed in the long term. I mentioned you can get compatbles from nothdevoncomputer.

Sorry now I see you did mention and I did actually see that link before :o sorry!

I'm going to order some inks from them as £1 per colour is the best by far. I'll get a few packs before Epson start legal action against them too

Just out of interest, what can Epson do? Aren't these other companies providing healthy competition which is good in the open market? Or doesn't it work that way (i.e. they have a monopoly :()
  • How long can these inks be stored for? I mean they aren't going to dry out if they're kept for a few years are they? :o

I would of thought they last at least a year or more as long as the seal isn't opened. I have just put a new one in today and its been stored 6 months or so and its fine.

I wouldn't personnel buy too many just enough to last 6 months or so, I am sure there will always be compatables, manufacturers will just have to get around the patents.

I know printers are lost sellers and manufacturers have to recoup there monies but the prices they charge for originals inst juts plain rip off.

I ams sure many of use wouldn't able to afford to print things the prices there charge on originals.

Just bear in mind though with compatibles is if there is a problem with ink blockage Epson wont want to no. If its any other problem, like paper feed etc then that's fine. But I know with my friend who works at a Epson dealership, he repairs printers/pc's they wont touch printers that have problems with blockages caused by compatibles.

I have used my R300 since about Sept 2004 with compatibles and its been fine, so thought I would warn you that there is a downside.

Right off to bed now, I couldn't sleep and have to be up in the morning.
