At the moment I am with British Gas on their Click 6 tariff, just been on Scottish Power's website and they have a better deal.
My down fall is I don't have a brilliant credit file:o :o So was wondering if Scottish Power do a FULL credit check or maybe just a verification check with a Credit Reference Agency?

Any help welcome!

I think suppliers are starting to increase the checks they do because of the stick they get when people end up in debt and then have to have a prepayment meter fitted. That said you have nothing to loose by trying to switch.

following records relating to you and others (see 18.4 below):
    (a) our own;
    (b) records held by Credit Reference Agencies (‘CRAs’) and
when CRAs receive a search from us, they will place a search
footprint on your credit file and that may be seen by other
lenders/organisations. CRAs supply to us both public
(including the electoral register) and shared credit and fraud
    prevention information; and
    (c) records held by Fraud Prevention Agencies (‘FPAs’).
Such checks may be used for assessing applications, verifying
identity to prevent crime and money laundering. We may
also make periodic searches at CRAs and FPAs to manage
    your account/s with us.

Well I guess that will be a no no then, pity as it was a decent tariff.

As a matter of interest, what deal at Scottish Power is better than Click 6?

Do the comparison websites confirm that?

Well, I really got my calculator out and went into Scottish Powers website and checked the duel fuel tariffs. Now with click six with Bristish Gas the first 670 kwh is 6.807 with SP it's 4.997.
Although not sure what the first tier kwh that is, will double check again.

Do you think the click 6 is a good deal?
I find I get very bogged down working out things with energy companies but this did seem ok.

If switching to Scottish Power, check out the cashback sites like Quidco to get a bonus for switching.
  • I'm in an IVA (the step before bankruptcy) and switched to Scottish Power earlier this year. They can't have done a full credit check as I would have failed miserably, I have standard meters (not prepayment) and pay monthly by DD.

On 2 tier price tariffs Scottish power charge for 1143 units on tier 1, whilst BG charge for 670 units.

If you know your annual consumption you can just enter your data in a website to give you a comparison on costs.
