I don't want to come across as harsh but all the stuff i've highlighted in pink, are all the stuff you don't really need (even if just for your health's sake you should give up the fags! ) You are never gonna clear your debt if you keep overspending like that.

If you can't even remember what you bought, did you really need it??

And this is the voice of experience unfortunately, keep spending like this and you too can get a signature like mine...oweing £1000's and £1000's. I did exactly the same, and it's no fun in the long run....

Try setting your self a rigid budget for a week. Get cash out. Leave your cards at home. And stick to it. I'm on £15 a week at the moment, and soon gonna have to cut back to £10. It's really made me realise how much I was spending on things I never even needed.

(ps, probably could have got MAC brushes cheaper on Ebay, if it really really was an essential puchase!:))

And I hope this hasn't come accross harsh. or mean. I'm just worried you are heading in the wrong direction! (ie, my direction!!)

OK, so I don't exactly wear makeup much, but how many sets of brushes does a girl need? I've been using the same cheap set for about 15 years!

  • Sorry if I sound harsh but you spent £82.95 on makeup in two days? Perhaps you could set yourself the challenge of using the makeup and beauty products that you already have, and throw any spare money at your debts?

I don't think I even spend £82 a year on makeup and I buy maybelline/bourjois/loreal/other fairly decent makes (and no I'm not an old fuddy duddy, I'm 21 and love makeup hehe). Most of my cosmetics are bought out of Boots vouchers that I've got from doing surveys. Maybe you could do that and save up your vouchers if you feel you *must* buy the expensive cosmetics?

Do you usually spend that much on make up on a regular basis? I know you mentioned that you had saved up for the mac brushes so that isn't a usual purchase but is this the amount you regularly spend?
  • Just want to pipe up to say congratulations on having the guts to post your spends. :j

I know people are warning you about the danger of your spending, and they are right, but I think you need to know that by confessing and realising where you are going wrong, you are taking massive steps in the positive direction.

    Keep at it!

This is great! I love the idea of 'publicly' disclosing my daily spends. I do it for myself, but it's easier then to 'justify' the spends when it's just you. I don't think this weeks breakfast and lunch and snack buys would go too well down on here...:(Good luck with your spending diary, I may very well follow suit. :)
