This is a scam operating on uk Mobile Phones.
A Missed Call comes up. The number is something like 0709 020 3840. The last numbers may vary but certainly the first numbers will remain the same. If you call this number back, you will be charged anything up to a ridiculous £50 per minute. People have complained about their phone bills, once they have realised the cost of the call but apparently this is completely legal. So beware, do not call back numbers beginning with 0709.
I had this happen to me today, although I knew not to call the number bac, beware!!

The quoted cost per minute maybe incorrect - but the fact remains that there are people out there making "missed calls" apparently from 070 & 09 numbers - some of which are charged at up to £1.50 per minute from a landline (and I think we all expect to pay the same or more from a mobile).
Don't return any missed calls where you don't recognise the number - especially if the number starts 070 or 09
Edit: Somehow I managed to introduce an extra "07" lolThere are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

Numbers starting 070 are called Personal Numbering. These numbers are portable in that the owner of the number can direct any calls made to the number to terminate on a different number. for instance, the holder of the number may want any calls to it to terminate on his mobile phone whilst out. So he can arrange for this to happen. Then when he returns home or to the office he can get the 070 number to terminate on the landline, and so on.
These numbers look similar to mobile numbers because they start with the 07 prefix. But, they are always charged at a higher rate than calling a mobile phone. My view is that they ought to be reclassified and brought into the 09 Premium rated range in order to remove their ambiguity.
The number range that you mentioned, 07090 2 is allocated to Redstone Communications Ltd. This company is well known for selling numbering services and as been around for some time.0
