Snap. Although given the amount of pain I endured trying to get the bl00dy thing INTO Lloyds in the first place, I am a bit apprehensive to say the least!!!

Well if they aren't giving me the "selected customers only" fixed rate renewal at 3.75%, I guess I'll transfer it back from whence it came to get a variable 3.25%, better than their crappy 1.5%.

I got the old "your account will mature on 16th May 2009 which is the anniversary of your first deposit... you can take your money out now (aren't we kind) and if you leave it in there after maturity you'll get our cr-ppy variable rate".

    However.

    I had three deposits:

    NS&I £3300, deposited 16th May BUT account closed/cheque dated 7th May
YBS £27400, deposited 22nd May BUT account closed/cheque dated 9th May
Egg £7000, deposited 3rd June BUT account closed/cheque dated 13th May (long story, had to get FOS involved)

The T&C when I applied said they would backdate the interest to the date on the cheque(s). IIRC they had to put a recorded message on their helpline to confirm this as they were taking so long to transfer anything.

All my cheques were dated before 16th May but deposited after, so what are they planning to do about that I wonder? I know the NS&I one won't earn the 6.5% because you only got that on £9k or more.

I am going to have to write to them about this. Wish me luck :(

PS I'm not fussed about not being offered the new fixed rate account, as I need easy access to the cash this year anyway - and as ffacoffi has pointed out, YBS's rate is looking OK again (at the moment).

  • Hi,

My current account is with Lloyds, so I've been able to check the balance of my Fixed Rate ISA online. They have credited my account with interest on 5th February, the anniversary of the date I opened the account. The interest is within 50p of my own calculations, which means that they have correctly backdated the interest to the dates on the cheques from my previous ISA providers.

I have had the letter stating that my account won't mature until the aniversary of the first deposit (another five weeks), so I hope that this interest payment isn't a sign that they've got it wrong. Now all I have to do is find a good home for the money for the next year.

Is that the only way to access the FRISA online, you have to have a current account with them?

    Thanks

I have access to my FRISA account but I don't have a current account. IIRC, I applied for online banking access at the same time as opening the account, but I'm sure it can be done retrospectively.

I have just spoken to Lloyds re my FRISA, (had problems logging on), and have been told that as from 16th February,(next Monday), there will be a dedicated helpline available for questions about their ISA's, ( I bet that will be busy!). That number is not available until the 16th.

Same here, don't have current account, only the ISA, but can access the FRISA online.

I bet this has been setup for the launch of the new FRISA. I think they closed the old FRISA customer service dept months ago.

Well I have got my letter confirming my new maturity date. Result at last! I'm sure this is a victory for consumer power. With enough people taking them to the ombudsman, media coverage and forums such as these the pressure was mounting. The reason why it took them so long to finally adhere to their T's & C's is probably that they had made a mistake which was going cost them a lot of money in increased interest payments - and they were hoping we would go away. But we didn't!

OK, have letter stating 12 months will end on anniversary of transfer being credited to the account but as with others there is still a one month gap between this date and my previous ISA being closed. How have people had this resolved?
    I think....
