turning off answer phones

Hi,
Can anyone help, please?
I would like to switch off the answer phone on my motorola v547, and also my sony ericsson z200.
If I can't turn them off, then how can I leave my own message asking people to text me rather than leave voice messages?
any help would be appreciated, thanks!

What network are they on?
If Vodafone dial 1210 to turn it off
If O2 Dial 1760 to turn your Voicemail off0 -
With Orange you have to ask Customer Services to remove it.0
