BE Broadband - A Warning !

Hi All,
Just thought I would warn everyone to be very careful of BE broadband's T+C's if looking into selecting a new broadband provider.
I have been relatively pleased with the service provided by BE over the year or so I was with them until I came to cancel. I decided to go over to Sky broadband as it was £8 cheaper per month. When I came to cancel my BE service, I was informed that I either had to give 3 months notice (!!!) or pay an express cancellation charge of £40. I find this pretty ridiculous for a company that likes to pride itself on having no minimum contract. The reason they don't need a contract is they sting you to leave whenever you decide to !
I contacted BE and asked them to waive the fee but they have refused so I'll try and make sure other people don't have the same problem.
Buyer Beware !

Yep looks like its in BE's T&C's
What is the contract period and how does it end?
For Be unlimited members, it’s about as short as it gets. The contract starts on the date of our acceptance email, and your Service starts on the date that you have both received your welcome pack (including the Be Box modem) and you are connected to our Service in your local BT exchange. As a Be unlimited member you can terminate your Be contract at any time without paying any cancellation fees, providing you give us three (3) months’ termination notice by calling 0808 1013425. However, you may terminate a Be unlimited account by paying an express cancellation administrative fee of £40 (instead of providing three (3) months’ notice). Service will be terminated two (2) weeks after receipt of your express cancellation notice requested.
For Be lite or value members, the contract starts on the date of our acceptance email and your Service starts on the date that you have both received your welcome pack (including the Be Box modem) and you are connected to our Service in your local BT exchange. The minimum term of Service is 12 months from your Service commencement date. As a Be lite or value member you can terminate your Be contract at any time during the first 12 months from your Service commencement date providing you pay all Charges for the number of month(s) of Service remaining for that first 12 month period. This period is calculated from the date your Services commenced to the date when you give us a termination notice (with a minimum cancellation fee of one (1) month’s Charges). After the first nine (9) months from your Service commencement date, you can terminate your Be contract at the end of the minimum term of 12 months without paying any cancellation fees, providing you give us three (3) months' termination notice. After the first twelve (12) months from your Service commencement date, you can terminate your Be contract at any time without paying any cancellation fees, providing you give us one (1) month’s termination notice. You may also choose to terminate your Be lite or value contract by paying an express cancellation fee of £30 (instead of providing one (1) month’s notice), once the initial service term of 12 months has passed. Service will be terminated two (2) weeks after receipt of your express cancellation notice.Waddle you do eh?0 -
Wow, from whats been posted a minimum 12 month contract ontop of a 3 month cooldown? Thats really unfair to say the least.
don't really see whats the fuss about. It states clearly that there are three months period required when you want to cancel. The 12 months is only for Be Lite users and does not apply to Be Unlimited.
And as a BeLite user you can always request your termination at month 9 and then leave at the end of month 12. Simply... in my opinion!0 -
seems quite cut and dried, please also note the £8/month saving by going to sky could reduce to just £3 with their imminent price increase.
It's not fair that you have a choice of the best 2 LLU operators in the country, neither of which will enable my exchange

or upgrade from Be Lite and pay £4 extra a month for 3 months so you could leave at any point in the first 12 months just like on the 'higher' charge plans
so I assume this is YET another "Rip off" thread to file under "Actually I didn't read the T&C's"0
