  • Hi Tinka you must eat or you will get ill, what about your neighbours I know you probably feel to proud, but you could say your pay hasn't gone into the bank and could they lend you a couple of quid until you get on your feet.
Or another idea what about the corner shop when I was working in a corner shop years ago my boss would often let people have a couple of pounds worth of stuff and he gave them a month to pay it back. Just a couple of suggestions.

If you lived near me I would help you out.
I hope you manage to sort something out.

I haven't got any friends really just people I work with and both our families are struggling with bills and unemployment as well so its not a good time for any of us unfortunately. Going to give social services and salvation army a ring in a min off the works phone!

I don't want to sound harsh but you really do need to eat. If you don't eat enough, you will find your concentration begins to drop, which is likely to affect your work. The last thing you need now is the fear of losing your job.
Even just some cheap pasta or a potato is better than nothing.
I'm glad that you are going to make those phone calls to the social sevrices etc; however I really do think it would be worth confiding in a family member or someone at work that you believe you can trust. I understand that your families are struggling with bills etc, but there is a step change between cutting down in order to pay bills and not actually eating because you have no money. If you get no joy with the social services, I'm more than happy to shout down the phone at them on your behalf because you shouldn't have to be in this position.

I've been in the whole no food situation at uni (I was in catered halls - they didn't feed us at the weekends and the rent was so much I regularly ate a good dinner on Friday and nothing at all until Monday morning!)
I know it's not pleasant, especially when you have stuff to do and you feel dizzy and sick!

I don't really have any suggestions other than raid the back of the couch and hit netto for some cheap pasta, just wanted to offer some sympathy.
(though I second the idea that you need to eat! what would DS do if Mummy passed out from hunger??)
  • I've been there often myself - will probably be there again in a week or so and it's never nice havign to be like this. You really have my sympathies as it's horrid being in that situation.

It can be really embarrassing have to ask for cash, but could you even stock up on a few packs of 7p noodles from the supermarket? (I know someone suggested similar to me when I was in exactly the same situation as you and I thought,"7p! I can't afford 7p!" so if that's your case at the moment then sorry for not seeing the true depths of it).

Is pay day soon? If so, could you even tell someone that your bank card has been swallowed and ask for a fiver or so to see you through until pay day? I know it's not nice having to lie - and you can only get away with this excuse once :p - but really most people will offer you the money without a thought or anything.

That's all I can suggest. Apparently the sally army are very busy in the States at the moment due to the cerdit crunch and building up a 'white collar' clientele. You've got nothign to be embarrassed about. You're working and trying your best, so take whatever help from them you can - you deserve it as much as the next person.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions they were very helpful and it is nice to know i'm not alone in all this.

I have some good news to report now! My OH did some work for my cousin and he paid him £30 on Friday and yesterday I went to a shop I did a few shifts for and they said I had some wage slips I still hadn't picked up and in one of them was £23! Plus I get paid tomorrow so I'm feeling a little bit brighter now.

    Thank You all again

Tinka, so pleased things worked out OK this week.
It might be an idea to try and put a small amount of food aside for emergencies....even if it's only a couple of packs of 7p noodles and some of the value instant mash...not wonderful but it is food.

Thanks for updating, so many seem to post when in dire need and never post again :D

You are right about the food and I hope we don't have a week like that again!! Saying that though, my OH is a Taxi driver and the clutch went on it on Saturday so we without any money from him again till we can afford to get it fixed! One thing after another isn't it?!
