They are clearly adding the 1p in order to get the £4 each way credit card chargesalanrowell wrote: »But the latter isn't a rip off - and they aren't saying the flights are free then charge you 1p per person per flight.
Its those charges I find to be a ripoff
To be honest I cant complain about 0p flights with a 1p charge but I think their £4 credit or debit card fees a bit steep when in fact it only costs them pennies
Even more so for those paying full fare then being confronted with all the add-onsIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
You need not pay any cards fees if you have an Electron card.
The flight is in itself free however the taxes are not.
Ergo - not false advertising
How many times do we have to go through this?0 -

That's what the ad quoted states. So why are they charging 1p?
If that is indeed the quote then my sincere apologies (no sarcasm intended)
If something is "free" then IMHO there should be a way of getting it for no spend
Can anyone then point us all in the direction of a no-cost flight - as advertised?0 -

They will supposedly refund the 1p if asked, but they have to charge it in order to process the booking. I don't know anybody that has asked for the refund - perhaps the OP could try and report back?
Gone ... or have I?0 -

I didnt have to ask for a refund as they never took the 1p in the first place the last time I booked one. It was free for me as it was before they charged for debit cards.
I have to agree with the OP if something is advertised as free...it should be FREE and not free just to electron card holders0 -
Oh for !!!!s sake. Do we have to have this same old sh1te cluttering up the boards every week?
If you want a free flight, get a bloody Electron card. It's that simple. Moaning about paying £4 each way to get to bloody Brussels, for Christ's sake. Get some perspective in your life, or go to a different airline and pay a realistic fare.
The tightarseness of this site can really grate sometimes.Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -

Spot on dmg24. Their systems require some kind of payment to make the booking as has been mentioned here before, hence the 1p token cost. As you say, it will be refunded on request although the phone call, stamp, paper or whatever means you use to reclaim it would probably cost more than you get back.
Free flights are available, not always where or when everybody wants, but for the OP to say otherwise and for anyone else to support that view is showing ignorance of the facts.0 -
Does anyone know which airline is the MOST expensive for credit card handling fees I just checked BMI baby to book flights and it cost a whooping £10 to use a debit card and a whopping £15 to use a credit card but if you have a BMI baby credit card it's free0
