    Really? Why?

It REALLY hogs resources (Slows the computer down)
Conflicts with lots of various software
and most importantly, it lets WAY too much through (And for a product thats PAID for....thats BAD)

  • I didn't pay for it? It was what was already on the laptop when I bought it?

Yes, most pcs come with either Mcafee or Norton on. But once the 'trial' runs out, you HAVE to pay to get updates

If your trials run out then you NEED another anti virus

  • Oh see I'm totally pants with this sort of thing :o I've had the laptop about a year and never been asked to pay for anything from McAfee only ever been told I need to do updates sometimes which I do  I've never had any problems with it so was happy with what I had until Martins email last week warning about needing to make sure our computers are 'safe'. It wasn't until investigating tonight that I realised that my Windows Firewall was not even turned on  so I clicked to turn it on. I hope the Firewall I have now switched on does not affect things like Quidco money tracking etc

Have I given anyone brain ache yet :o:p

    Crikey!

Id suggest you download MALWAREBYTES scanner
    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&!!!!!button
    UPDATE and QUICK SCAN

(This is because theres EVERY chance you have something nasty on your drive as youve not been using a firewall AND mcafee is probably out of date (Though mcafee should have its own firewall))

If it finds anything then DELETE everything and post the log here

Thanks I downloaded this and it said 'No malicious items detected' thankfully.

So now still need to decide if I should stick with things as they are or unload them and install something else. Decisions
